HDD LED not blinking !!!

post #1 of 21
Thread Starter
Okay guys, before I start my motherboard is AsRock Z77 Extreme4, and case is NZXT Lexa S, and I successfully built my PC with all the components in working.

But there is a little problem I have with HDD LED wires.

I connected all my wires according to the motherboard and chassis manual, and everything works except HDD LED (and possibly Power LED but i don't know how to test that).

Now before I had this motherboard I previously had a MSI motherboard (which is now bricked) and with that one, everything worked great, so i honestly doubt wires are at the fault here.

So does anyone know why my LED is not working ?

NOTE: The wires look like this

oooo.
ooooo

The two on the right (two "o") are for the Reset switch (which is working)
The two before the above one are for Power Switch (which is also working)
The first 2 on the bottom are for HDD LED
And the first 2 on the top are for Power Switch (where the right one is - and the left one +)

As I said i followed everything according to the motherboard and chassis manual (which both indicated the same thing), so I don't know what is the problem here.

Please help.

Thanks.

Have you tried plugging the connector in the other way? Say you plugged it in - + try plugging it in + - and see if it's just a polarity issue.

But I only have a Power LED wires with + and - , HDD LED, Power Switch and Reset Switch comes "merged".

then swap the plugs + and - . I do it pretty much every build.

Nevermind, Power LED was working all this time but I thought it was something in the motherboard that is supposed to work, but HDD LED is still not working.

HDDd led will not wo0rk

the signal goers from - and works it way to +

as you have stated the power switch is integrated with the hdd led not going to happen.

sorry for the bad news.

swap chassis or mod the wires

So your front IO is not like this ? And all are merged in one big block?

@levontraut

It worked before so no it's not broken

@gotendbz1

I'll try

@Myst-san

No, no, no it IS like the picture above, everything is same except that the power LED has 1 "block" of - (labeled as PWR LED -) and 1 "block" of + (labeled as PWR LED +).
Everything else is same.

Sorry for the misunderstanding
