Looking for some creative advice/direction

post #1 of 2
Thread Starter

Hi Everyone,

I built my current rig in January of 2012 for the sole purpose of computer gaming. I did not care about looks as much as I cared about performence. As time went on, and seeing my rig every day, it sort of became an eyesore for me and I developed an itch to change something about it. I do not know what I want to change since I lack any form of creativity, which is why I am here (I hope this is the correct forum).

What I do know, is that I don't like how I essentially have two color themes going on, blue and red. Here is an album and a list of specs:

Album - (http://imgur.com/a/IFOzJ)

* i7 2600k @ 4.7 Ghz
* ASRock Z68 Pro Gen 3 Fatal1ty Edition
* Seasonic 750x Gold
* Mushkin Redline 16GB @ 1866
* Gigabyte Windforce 7970 Ghz Edition @1100/1500
* Samsung 830 256GB
* Crucial M4 128GB
* Seagate 2TB 7200 RPM
* Lanboy Air Case
* Corsair H70 Core
* 7 Gelid Solutions 120mm Gamer Wing Fans

So, from how I see it I think have three options

 1) Buy a new motherboard and ram to match the blue theme I have. This is going to be tedious since I will have to take everything apart, put it back together, and all the drama of OC'ing from the get-go.

 2) Buy a new case, with new fans, and some new lighting (NZXT Hue?) to go with the red motherboard and ram I have.

 3) Somehow add/remove something to make the current theme of blue and red work better.

I'm open to ideas and suggestions. Please forgive the quality of the photos since I only have a camera phone. Also, I know, I seriously need to clean the dust out of the case and my cable management is non-existent (not that the case allows for any).

Thanks

redneck option 1: paint your case window and the problem goes away.

redneck option 2: take out your ram, get a bunch of aluminum silicate sand paper, and sand the red off your ram. Boom it's silver. then get a bottle of nail polish of the appropriate color and paint the lip of your pcie slots. (do NOT get any paint inside them! )

redneck option 3: get a pair of wire cutters and remove your blue fan lights. Now it's just black and red.

redneck option 4: Just live with it. It doesn't look that bad.
