Quick question about Windows 8.1 version

Thread Starter
So, I'm going to buy the student version of Windows 8.1

It's equal to this: http://www.microsoftstore.com/store?Action=pdp&Env=BASE&Locale=en_US&SiteID=msusa&Windows-8=1-Pro-for-Students&productID=288769600

However, the description says, pretty clearly as well, that: "Important: Windows 8.1 Pro full version is for Windows 7 users only. "

For the system I am doing, I don't have Windows or anything, and I just want the Windows 8.1. So, can I just clean-install this 8.1 on it? Or does it actually require Windows 7?

You need a Windows 7 computer to create an USB or DVD installer. More than likely this particular version will not give you an actual disk and all you'll get is a product key.

If you get only a product key, you'll be instructed to use this link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/upgrade-product-key-only. This link will download a small EXE file that you MUST run on a Windows 7 computer in order to create an Windows 8.1 ISO.
