XFX Core Edition 650W vs. 750W: which one should I buy? - Page 2

My rig with a mild OC on the CPU/GPU's pulls 490W max at the wall according to my kill-a-watt and that was running Intel Burn Test and Furmark simultaneously. As the above posters have mentioned 550 is more than enough.

Thanks for adding in BulletSponge! So, just to clarify, guru3d was overkilling saying a 700~800W PSU is needed for 2xGTX760 SLI?

Now I'd really need some advise on 550W PSUs, since I have no clue about them.
I'd buy the XFX 550W but it's much older than the 650/750W and uses a different platform, and the reviews are worse than his younger brothers biggrin.gif

For single 770 you're fine w/ a good ~430/450 unit

Absolutely, they'd draw like 300 watt between them gaming. That's not 700-800w, and CPU + entire system power consumption is not even remotely close to being that big

No it does not all Core Edition are rebrand Seasonic S12II´s

You want two video cards for that you should go with the 650 watts

450 watts for one video card 650 watts for two

oh ok, but for example the 450w and 550w are excluded from haswell compatibility list. Well, you know what's weird? Those 2 are now out of stock, but as I said I think they'll come back soon, but their last seen price are 80,50€ for the 750W and 81,40€ (!!!) for the 650W. The prices could change when they come back, and I hope they lower down 650W's price rather than raising the 750W's XD

shilka, you mean I could sli 2xGTX770 with 650W? Anyway, if the 750W will still be cheaper when back, buying that one would give me some advantage against the 650W, like less noise, effort etc?

sorry about that: i'm willing to spend max 85€, if it's really needed. The favorite price range is 70 to 80 euros though. I'm going to buy on amazon.it or that store i linked earlier (e-key).

...you mean i could shoot something higher and go for a 80+ gold 550w for, say, 100€?

Little OT: what do you think about the z87x-d3h motherboard from asus? Is it a better deal than the z87 extreme4 for the same price (~110€)?

Cooler Master V and VS series are pretty much the best value out there

This one
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cooler-Master-Vanguard-V700W-Supply/dp/B00CJ1UXFK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1389372413&sr=8-1&keywords=Cooler+Master+V700

Last 80 plus has nothing to do with quality

You can find more then one 80 plus gold rated PSU thats trash
