Looking for a gaming laptop!

Thread Starter
What is your maximum budget?
$800

What country are you in?
U.S.

What will be the uses of this laptop?
Gaming, entertainment, school-work, and all other mainstream stuff.

Do you have brand loyalty or care which brands we select for you?
No

What screen size do you require?
At least 14"

What screen resolution do you require?
768p is doable but anything 900p and higher would be preferred.

Are you looking to buy NEW or would refurbished/recertified/used be okay?
Prefer new, but give me anything you can find whether its used or refurbished.

How long should the battery last? (Under optimal conditions, no movies/games/heavy internet)
At least 2-3 hours

What games would you like to play with your laptop? And on what settings?
Far cry 3, Battlefield, Assassins creed, basicly all newer games on medium settings.

What operating system do you need? (if any)
Windows 7 or 8.

Is there a certain style of laptop you want? (aluminum, black, gaming, etc.)
No

How much hard drive space do you need?
At least 500gb

Do you need any special hardware? (blue ray, webcam, specialty ports, etc.)
No

Is there anything else we need to know? Been trying to find a laptop with at least an i5 (dual core i know) and a 750m in the least and i'd rather stay away from lenovo since the laptop will be moved around a lot. All help appreciated, thanks!

ASUS N56JR-EH71 Intel Core i7 4700HQ(2.40GHz) 12GB Memory 1TB HDD 15.6" Notebook Windows 8 64-bit
Nvidia GTX 760M GDDR5 2GB

The system above looks like a brick, but surely is a good deal for gaming or desktop replacement system. Having a quad core Core i7 certainly kicks butts. (Lower power mobile i7 and i5 are actually dual core, unlike on the desktops).

For something thinner and lighter, I'd recommend the new Dell Latitude 3000 with i5-4200U CPU and AMD 8850M graphics. Yes, it's much slower than above, but still runs all the recent games at reduced resolution.

they are both actually about the same size.
Asus = 15" x 10" x 1.1" - 1.3"
Dell = 14.8” x 10.2” x 1.1”/1.3"

If you could manage to swing an extra 50 bucks, this looks like it should fit your needs nicely... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834313583

Well...late night reading doesn't seem to be my forte as you said you would like to stay away from Lenovo...so NM...lol

If you can find them used, the ASUS ROG laptops are really nice, and I've seen some under the 800 mark...

for $100 bucks more can grab the newegg asus g75vx with the 670mx. It's an underclocked gpu, and the cooling is amazing. People are using a custom vbios and getting points in the 6000+ range. Most meeting 680m clocks and temps in the mid 70's... smile.gif at least this is what I'm going to do.

Intel Core i7 3630QM (2.40GHz)
8GB Memory 1TB HDD
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670MX
1920 x 1080
Windows 8 64-Bit
DVD Super Multi

It's a refurb, but comes with 802.11ac wifi...it's pretty much great bang for buck.
