URGENT!! Voltage Issues and Problems With DIGI+ Power Phase!!! FX-8350 4.0 Ghz Vishera, G.Skill Ripjaws Memory Kit 2x 8Gb 1366mhz DDR3, Mobo is Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z.

Here is what I have done, I set everything to default values, and set the AI Overclock to Manual in bios so I could adjust things manually, I set the Extreme OC profile option to enable, which turned up my settings in the DIGI+ Power Control, I adjusted them down some to the Digi+ smart key software recommendations from the AI Suite II, DIGI+ Power Control Option, I tried using the software to set this at first but when i Restarted my pc and went to bios the settings were defaulted, So I enabled Extreme OC profile, then went to DIGI+ Power Control in Bios, and manually adjusted them down to the values it gave me from the software, which included: CPU LLC = Extreme, CPU Current Capability= 140%, Power Switch Frequency= Manual, VRM Fixed Frequency = 450kHz, CPU Power Phase Control = Extreme, CPU Power Response Control = Fast, Cpu Power Thermal Control 150c... CPU/NB LLC = Extreme, CPU/NB Current Capability= 130%,, CPU/NB Power Response Control= Fast.... DRAM Current Capability= 130%, DRAM Power Switching Frequency = 500khz, DRAM Power Phase Control = Extreme... Now on to my OC, I only moved the CPU Ratio to 21.0, leaving the multiplier at 200, voltages are all set to auto, I manually set the HT Link Speed, and the CPU/NB Frequency both to 2400mhz, which boosted it from the default of 2200mhz each.. I set my Dram timings according to the manufacture instructions except one part, I left the DRAM voltage set to auto instead of 1.50v..

The Problem!!! ----
My voltages scare me...

Vcore = 1.332 v(pretty normal)
CPU/NB = 1.45 v (never seen it this high) (my cpu/nb temp is 40c idle temp) the CPU itself is around 20c, and the sensor everybody tells me to look at is at 9c) .. Is the CPU/NB voltage too high?
NB Core Voltages= 1.118v (which if I have read about this correctly isn't the same as the CPU/NB at all)
DRAM= 1.488v

If this is not safe or anywhere near being ok, then what should my next step be? I was planning on overclocking the CPU to atleast 4.5Ghz or more if things could get stable... *side note* Prime95 passes this but my voltages on the CPU/NB and my temps go to 50c after 10 - 15 mins, but my CPU O.C. is only for 4.2ghz..

I went ahead and increased the cpu ratio to 22.5 x 200, to hopefully even out some of the voltages which set my cpu clock speed to 4.5ghz or 4500mhz etc.. but here is my readout with Prime95 running for around 5 mins: I don't want to mess anything up or damage anything, so if anyone knows about this voltage please help me, thanks.

I would try FSB 225 Cpu multi 20 1.42 v core llc med for 4.5 HT and Northbridge around 2000 is best for keeping temp down a few degrees. biggrin.gif

What about the cpu/nb volts?
post #5 of 6
1.2 is ok 1.18 is default CPU/NB probably biggrin.gif On your v core might have to try up to 1.44 with llc on high( not extreme) also. that is how llc works under load your vcore will be much lower thumb.gif I would not extreme dram but auto or (optimal). http://www.overclock.net/t/1348623/amd-bulldozer-and-piledriver-overclocking-guide-asus-motherboard

That CPU/NB does seem high. Set it to 1.2 and it should be fine. Usually the CPU/NB is something you want to keep below 1.3/1.35 if possible as that's usually the max safe amount for the CPU/NB. Of course it depends on the chip, but that's the general basis of it. Anyone is welcome to correct me on that, of course.
