(However with the release of mantle and the next gen consoles using 8 core amd CPU's that may change) I did see quite a performance gain in many cpu intensive games going from a 965 at 4.7ghz.

How did you get your 965 to 4.7ghz, sounds like a golden chip if that is 24/7 speeds

You won't see much of a difference in gaming. Multitasking performance should increase quite a bit though. The 8350 would be excellent for VM and development environments.

I went from a 965BE at 4.0ghz to a 4770K at 4.5ghz about 6 months ago. It still surprises me how much faster it is.

In ipc dependent games maybe, but in games like battlefield 4, especially 64p matches? That's a whole world of difference.

I'm going to get the 8350 right before eso releases. Hopefully it will come down a little bit more.

i think he means his 9370 is clocked at 4.7 but yeah you can clock the 965 at 4.7 if you only have 1 core enabled or perhaps phase biggrin.gif

You said that your budget is $200 earlier, so I assume after getting an 8350 and depleting your budget. you are going to be using your hyper 212, right?

Expect to hit 4.4-4.6, MAYBE 4.7 if you great airflow on that heatsink thumb.gif

I would be satisfied with that kind of bump. I'm about to get two new fans for the evo. Any suggestions

The evo can take any 120mm fan's that can fit the clips. How much are you looking to spend on fans? don't expect performance to be in a whole different league just because of new fans though, the heatsink design designates how temps are going to be for the most part.
