New Build With AMD Athlon x3 455 Rana- 4th Core issue

Thread Starter
So I built my first PC on January 2nd.
I installed windows, the drivers and windows update then proceeded to shut down my PC and enter the BIOS to Unlock the 4th Core of my AMD Athlon x3 455. I enabled MSI Core Unlocker and when i rebooted I got a BSOD. I tried again and got a different BSOD then the last time. Another issue i have when using my PC is that if I try to use AMD Overdrive with my GPU it will BSOD as soon as i load up any game. I would really like to enable both of these options to speed up my PC, as for some reason at random times while using my PC all Processes will not respond including explorer.exe. It recovers after about 90 seconds and acts normal until the next Lag Spike occurs. Can someone please help me with these Issues?

SPECS:
AMD Athlon x3 455 Rana
AMD Radeon HD Sapphire 7770 Ghz
MSI 970A-G46 Motherboard
Toshiba 2TB 7200RPM 6gb/s 64MB Cache
4GB Kingston Ram 1333mhz
Rosewill z1 Heatsink
Thermaltake Tsunami Dream Case

^The guys above me are correct, many athlon x3's are really athlon x4's that just had a faulty core, and rebranded as "x3" to turn a profit thumb.gif sorry bout your luck there

Just overclock its a good little CPU

If you want a quad core, always get a quad core from the get-go. Core unlocking is always a gamble.

That being said, that CPU should be fairly good if you just overclock the snot out of it. wink.gif

Why are you using overdrive?
Because it will auto overclock?
If so, thats your problem.

Pretty much everything you are describing sounds like symptoms of an unstable OC.

Revert to stock on everything and see if the issues persist.

I put everything back on stock but the occasional freezes still occur.
