so I'm looking for a graphics card right now I just sold my palit gtx 680. from where I'm from prices are different. so ill make my post as short as possible.

which one is better?

HIS R9 290 4GB
http://www.tipidpc.com/viewitem.php?iid=28503590

PHP 17950.00 or aproxx. 401.65 USD

vs.

Zotac GTX 780 3gb/384bit
PHP 23160.00 or aprox 518.70 USD
http://www.tipidpc.com/viewitem.php?iid=28367737

im currently leaning towards the r9 290 because it's a lot cheaper from where I'm from. do you think the extra 117+ USD is worth it for me to get the gtx 780?
I'm planning to buy a graphics card asap:D

TIA OCN.

With those prices, 290. The most I'd personally be willing to pay extra for the better cooler of the 780 is 10-15%. The performance is pretty much the same when OC'd with maybe a slight nod towards the 780. But if you play BF4, then 290 every time.

if you don't plan on replacing the stock cooler on any of these gpus, then get the 780.

Do you have any custom 290's available? 290 stock cooler sucks especially if you plan to overclock. Sapphire 290 Tri-X is supposed to be a very good choice, I'd also recommend Gigabyte Windforce and Asus DC2.

I've got reference 780, at stock it's very quiet but with current overclocks I've been forced to use 80-90% fan speed to keep it below 80C, it's noisy (still not as bad as 290).

R9 290 for best overall value VS performance, but if you have the funds a GTX 780 ti, it's an absolute monster.

for those prices grab the 290 for sure 100%, but beware, if you are using the stock cooler you might have some troubles with heat/noise. The 780 is only slightly better in that regard though.

On that I must disagree. It's the difference between the best blower cooler on the market and pretty much the worst. It's a BIG difference, but not enough to validate such extra price.

i prefer my cards nice and quiet and very cool, i cant stand any air cooling, even non reference ones like an msi tri frozr on a 780 lightning, yeah its really good compared to a reference one, but still not for me tongue.gif so i guess thats why i think the 780 cooler is still loud. I had a titan on air for like 3 weeks waiting for a block to arrive, hated every second of it. Had a 780ti on air for a month waiting on the classifieds to arrive, hated it so much lol.

OP try and see if you can buy the sapphire r9 290 tri-x if its available. very good reviews. the price on the r9 290 is very good in your region. so its worth it. but as i said look for custom cooler cards.
