Atx specification question

Alright. I think I found a case for my new server. It's old. It's Atx, it's got history, been with me since I was 11.

Factory it'll hold 8 hdds if I use a cooler master 3to4 converter.

Only question I have, is there a height standard for factory cpu heart sinks from mobo to top of sink?

This psu is lower, hence sideways, and I don't have much room to clear, and was curious if there's a standard between case widths of this style and Atx board coolers height.

I plan on getting a small AMD 6core setup stuffed in here, and if I dremel some holes, add some fans, and sandblast/paint, I think I'd have a nice little case.

Just wanted to double check before I spend time modding it.

All punch outs are here, all inserts all lights buttons, and if I can successfully cool 24tb, and keep history with me, I'd be a happy camper.

there isn't to my knowledge, you best bet would be to measure it with a pair of dial calipers or a ruler

nope nope. i got it.

v2.1 says min 2.8" component height. recommended 3.5"

not sure what factory amd 6300's are using for heatsinks, but should be under 3.5" i'd imagine.

this pentium2 cpu cooling setup i gutted was a fuzz over 3" height.

so i think i'm golden. i guess i'll can this thread and start my own build thread.

right now i've been collecting stuff as fast as 1Tb every 3 weeks

so....if i knew i'd fill up 8 hdd's right away, and had to move to 4 more for 12 total, i'd cut the lower front of the case and front cover to accept a 3x5.25" rack out of an old case, and spot weld it in this case, and have a split 3x5.25's top and bottom, with a pair of 3to4bay cooler master adapters.

i'm debating whether i should do that now, so i don't have to completely disassemble/repaint the setup later in future, just have the ease of adding more hdd's and cables.

ideas ideas. this won't be a crazy lighted christmas tree mess, i just wanted to try and utilize the most hdd's in a case with sentimental value....

i guess the hardest thing to find/make is a small fan screen/grille setup that'll cleanly span 3x3.5" bays to cover my ugly fan retro fit for the hdd's in the factory case 3.5" mounts. i had to redrill holes to split the difference so there was more appropiate airflow between the drives.
