3,3v rail always under 3,0v

Thread Starter
I think that my one year old NZXT hale90 850W PSU is begining to die.
The 3,3v rail stays under 3,0v whatever I do and today, when I open any game the pc just shuts off.
I get random warnings from AI Suite with voltajes like 2.88v.
Am I starting to risk my other hardware?
Can anyone confirm if it is dying?

I have disabled both videocards to be a little on the safe side and now it's 2.992v stable.
RMA maybe?

Did you see these number via software?

If you did then dont worry its not right

Also if you 3,3v rail was that low your PSU would shut off

Ignore what software tells you

This. To properly test for PSU voltages you'll have to bust out your multimeter.

Most likely an issue on the 12v rail, be it not enough capacity or voltage dropping.

Also, are you running overclocked? Are you sure it's stable?

yes, CPU and GPUs are OCed.

now, with both cards disabled, is 2.992v and with minor drops to 2.976v but no warnings so far.
When re-enabling the graphic cards I get random drops to 2.88v and warnings from AI Suite.

Does sound like the PSU is on it's way out - but the only way to confirm would be to take a calibrated multi-meter and check the voltage manually. You really can't trust the on-board voltage monitoring, but the part about your PC crashing whenever you start a game or heavy tasks supports the measurement reading.

Tolerance on 3.3v line is +/- 5% which means below 3.135v would be too low.

Voltage Regulation on the HALE 90 has always been a bit meh

So maybe its just voltage regulation thats acting up a bit

I'd hit the multimeter before RMA. Your OC is more likely to be the source of your instability.
