True as it does look nice but it also helps with cooling and support for the pcb. So get it smile.gif

This thing has like a million screws keeping the cooler in place lol. Changed the paste and fixed this minor noise problem.

Very informative, thanks for posting those pics! What was the noise issue you were having?

Some of the acx even the higher tier 780s with acx had a rattling problem at the very top (close to the dvi) there is a small heatsink and apparently at mid fan speeds like 33-34% it starts to rattle against the bigger sink. The quickfix was to put something in between. There are a couple of threads where some people said they out thermal tape, I just put thermal pad in between lol.

But evga said if it was annoying to return for an exchange but its probably something with the design.

Ah, that's good to know. thumb.gif I'll take that into consideration when making a final decision.

EVGA is still my first choice atm. What is the difference between the 02G-P4-2774-KR and the 02G-P4-2776-KR ? They're both superclocked and both have the ACX Cooler.

Close runner up is the GIGABYTE GV-N770OC-2GD .

ASUS GTX770-DC2OC-2GD5 is still on the table as is the MSI Gaming N770 TF 2GD5/OC .

Assuming 2GB VRAM is sufficient but my understanding is that GB doesn't matter for filters (I do like to max the settings as much as possible), just if you have multiple monitor set up. I do have my TV hooked up in addition to my monitor but when playing games I use one or the other - not both.

The cards labeled dual has a bios switch for 2 bios so you can flash customized bios if you'd like with a fail safe default.

2gb is fine for regular 1080p gaming, higher res will need more vram to keep up with higher res textures or if you play games such as skyrim with a ton of mods. Battlefield games has shown to use more than 2gb if you let it but still runs fine if you don't. Now depending on how games will be optimized in the future on it may or may not use more, most of the time they don't so it really depends.

I was wondering what the Dual stands for... rolleyes.gif interesting that it is cheaper.

I do tend to use mods quite a bit and I do prefer if I can max the settings. So it sounds like I should be going with 4GB then.

Before anyone shows up to tell you 4gb 770 is a waste, Let me tell you they don't own one..
I do, two in fact, and let me assure you they cannot use all 4gb effectively , but they sure as HELL can use wayy more than 2gb, So if you plan to SLI, and or run mods. Get the 4gb..

That fits with what UZ7 indicated. Back to the drawing board for me then looking for a 4GB version.
