Which 770? - Page 5

Ok, here's my new finalist list biggrin.gif

EVGA 04G-P4-3774-KR 399 after MIR. Normally I don't see the point in paying extra for an OC version as this is something I can easily do myself, but I haven't found a version of this card/ brand that is not factory oc'd.

GIGABYTE GV-N770WF3-4GD 369. Lowest priced - nothing on the con side for being the cheapest option as far as I can tell.

MSI Gaming N770 TF 4GD5/OC 399. Same price as the EVGA but it's not in stock. If it was I'd probably still be going for EVGA just because it's EVGA. Maybe I'm mistaken on the whole EVGA name brand thing but they do have an excellent reputation.

ASUS DirectCU II GTX770-DC2OC-4GD5 379. Just for consideration really as it is similarly priced as the Gigabyte - unless someone can point out why this card stands out.

My final considerations are (from most important to less important):

1) Noise. My rig has been near silent with my Sapphire 7950 and I want to keep it that way.

2) Overclocking capability

3) Price. Although all 4 are within my range the 399 price point is stretching my budget a bit.

After having a DCII 680 before this, I can vouch that it ran cool as a cucumber, and was quiet as hell even at 100%..
These EVGA's are absolutely louder at full tilt, for whatever this 2 cents is worth.
I will say the ACX coolers are very nice smile.gif

Yeah the ACX's are meant to cool well but you are probably picking the loudest of the lot with that one (if not that then the gigabyte). The MSI and ASUS cards are the quietest.

Are all EVGA products are eligible for the the step-up program or is this only for certain products/ models?

I do, two in fact, and let me assure you they cannot use all 4gb effectively , but they sure as HELL can use wayy more than 2gb, So if you plan to SLI, and or run mods. Get the 4gb..

Are you sure that's not mainly due to the fact that you have TWO? I'm assuming SLI?

And the winner is EVGA 02G-P4-2776-K with free two day shipping.

After getting some additional feedback and info I decided to go with 2GB after all. I am not convinced that there is a real benefit at this point when using a single monitor at 1080.
