Is a GTX 780 TI faster than 2x GTX 580's?

I was wondering where my 580's would be compared to more modern cards. I've been thinking of upgrading for some time now, so any information would be appreciated!

GTX 580s still pack a punch, and should perform similarly to a 780 TI. IMHO it's not really an upgrade unless you're having major issues with SLI.

Considering the 780Ti is exactly 5 times the cuda cores of each of my 480s, I'm going to say it is definitely faster than both your 580s put together. And my 480s, by a long shot.

Thanks for the quick replies! I haven't had any problems with SLI, and I probably should wait until I graduate to upgrade haha. Money is a little tight being in college and all smile.gif

The CUDA "cores" in Fermi were bigger/faster than Kepler ones, you can't compare different architectures with core counts.

Based on Titan/580 benches I'm seeing, 580 SLI is roughly equivalent to a 780 TI.

Not only will it be faster, but also quieter, use less power and no SLI.
But you can still SLI the Ti later on for better performance.

Win.

If you are not limited by Vram, then 580's are still more than enough in 99% of games.
It would be an upgrade IMO if you did go to a 780Ti, not only is it far more efficient, but it is faster than stock 580 SLi to begin with, plus it is a single card, and depending on where you shop, you will get free games with the 780Ti.

OC'd 580's would really deliver pretty much on par or more than a 780Ti IMO.
