Colour me surprised when I can't find a fun club when there are multiple discussion-threads laying about. It could as well also be more not finding it, notify me if that's the case.
WARNING!

THIS THREAD CONTAINS FROM MINOR TO HUGE SPOILERS, IF YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED ALL THREE MASS EFFECT GAMES I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TO DO JUST THAT, BEFORE BROWSING HERE

Mass Effect is an RPG-game in a third-person perspective developed by Bioware and published by Electronic Arts. The first game released November 20, 2007. The second game by the name Mass Effect 2 released between January 26, 2010 and January 27, 2011. The third and latest game released between March 6, 2012 and December 8, 2012. A fourth game, unrelated to the three first game's story has been confirmed. According to play-tester's Twitter account, the game is currently in a playable form in the Frostbite engine's third iteration (?). Mantle support is planned. Join the club, Shepherds, destiny's calling!
Send me a PM and I'll add you to the list:

I'm in, love the series (except for ending).
Played the first game 4times, the characters and plot is truly amazing smile.gif
Second game 3 times and the last 2 times. 1 & 2 are no doubt the best in my opinion, however the controls in 3 are the best.

Side note, check out my Star Citizen thread (link in signature). You will probably like that game too!

I am no doubt pumped for SC, I still can grasp the size of it however. I feel kind of lost in the community.

Anyway, Mass Effect is a franchise you play for the journey, not the end. And the journey is a damn good one. It'll be a time before I find anything like it to fairly compare.

I've played about 45h of the first game. That being two times with male Shepard and one with Femshep (being my current Shepard I play with). Played 110+h or ME2, loving everything about it. Currently I'm on my second play-through of Mass Effect 3.

The first time I played the games I was stupid enough not to speak to my squad-members after missions and the like. As male Shepard I rushed through ME3 of whatever damn reason. No side-missions were done, friends were lost and thus my hearth was crushed while fighting in London. The worst part was that I played through all three games with Garrus and Tali (which I also LI'd). I felt empty after that for quite a while. Now however, I'm on a more serious in-depth play-through. I just finished Legion mission on Rannoch and it blew my mind. Having postponed prio-mission for a bit I caught up with some P/R-points that I did not have during my first time playing. Having the Quarians and Geth united made me speechless. I'm damn pumped for ME4, and even replaying the franchise again.

Same! I think we all get kinda lost, there is a lot on RSI site from both community and devs.

I agree, the journey is great and something I will no doubt play several more times in the years to come, really keen on ME4 too. Hope it can live up to the other games, but I have some doubts sadly.
Star Citizen seems to perhaps be a worthy contender with story telling, they truly got a good team together now.

Think I have spent around 30-40hours per playthrough on all the games, but I do absolutely everything. Talk to every person, doing every little side quest, talk to everyone after missions etc. I think this really builds up the mood for the game(s).

Personally usually choose Garrus and Ashley/Miranda and never really get bored of them. Good team mates, and Garrus is really badass in 2. Sometimes Legion or Wrex, think they are pretty cool too.

Peace between Geth and Quarians made me speechless the first time too hehe..

I have a bad feeling having my hopes up for Mass Effect 4 with it being based on Dice's Frostbite 3 engine. Think what it could have been in ME3. *Atlas air-drops on Tuchanka when you help the turian squads, fires rocket at your cover, debris flying everywhere*. Unfortuantely, hopes were lowered slightly when I, on a very hyped level, flew to Noveria for the first time in Mass Effect to pour some water on the Illusive Man's head for placing filthy Cerberus-troops on my favorite planet. My only job there was to clear a few waves of 'em troops and disable a pair of AA-turrets. I felt cheated having Noveria as my top planet (same level of awesome as Virmire) because the speech with the Rachni queen will never become old.

My hopes may be high regarding the visuals, if not however, please for the love of the godess: make it mod-friendly for a change! At least .ini-files.. EA's not really poor. I believe they can spare a few cents delaying the game to make a more proper PC-port. TexMod is quite slow and finding the right line in JSON-files is slightly infuriating.

But they better have new characters I can fall in love with. Mass Effect 1/2/3 would nothing without a cocky turian, crazy krogan, humorous helmsman, and well *cough* a hot Quarian.

Well, it has been confirmed that the story isn't going to be related to Shepard at all. However, discussions about her/him in any public discussion between any race would be really hard to escape with Shepard being the hero of god damn everything. Imagine all newborns with the name Shepard. I don't really want to play in a setting where the Genophage is still current. I've never really enjoyed the quarrel between the races, especially the turian-krogan-salarian drama. Except the jokes between Wrex and Garrus, they're awesome.

Other wishes I have are related to the storyline it self. On the first spot is the ability to play as something else than a human. With this being implemented, a really branched plot with different questions and actions depending on your chosen race would most likely be there.

yah but if you look at the people i picked you know there are deep storylines behind each.

anderson was the 1st human spectre candidate from his 1st contact war experience.
hackett would have some pretty deep history behind him too.
aria going from a pole dancing commando to becoming the ruler of omega has got to have some nice story behind it too.
beelo was the 1st spectre ever so what happened there?
saren and his fall from grace. he's like the prefect parallel to lucifer smile.gif
the illusive man, that's just a story waiting to be told...
zaeed and the founding of the suns has got to be pretty interesting. would be interesting to find out that jessie is actually a highly modified lancer rather then an actual avenger (hence the reason he was never actually able to fix the gun properly using avenger parts)
samara is basically a matriarch that only give birth to Ardat-Yakshi's i'm sure there is some really interesting story behind her life too. something must have happened in the almost 1000 years lifespan smile.gif

like i said. those are just some of the major stories i like to explore. i didn't list legion because i'd expect him to be a main character in the morning war. ME3 essentially hinted that legion was the agricultural unit that picked up the widow and defended the other geth. the feeling i get from the game is the fact that the legion "program" WAS the leader of the geth and was wise enough to shield himself from the reaper influence, kinda like TRON.

anyway i think most of these storylines can be told with only side references to shepard and not be overly consumed by the ME1-3 content.

Now when you explain them I'm just getting much more interested in knowing them too. Both fortunately and unfortunately I think the majority of stories you listed are for fans to write themselves. Saren and Legion are two characters who stand out because of the interest (now when you have waken it) I have to them. I would really much like to experience the beginning on the end of Shepard's universe's cycle. The Morning war, featuring Legion most likely, is an indirect start on it because of how the Reapers utilized them. I also really want to now from where Legion's "independence" came from. Hopefully this can be discovered during my second play-through, before lighting up the galaxy in a green hue (IIRC, this ending kills the synthetics. Please put the answer in a spoiler-tag, if you're going to answer it thumb.gif ).

not sure if i understand what you are saying. the morning war had no reaper involvement. geth was not controlled by reapers till sheperd story arc. legion gained awareness independent from reaper tech. hence he became an "AI" instead of a complex VI. the morning war predates sheperd by about 300 years.

IIRC green = synthesis, red = destroy, and blue = control. so to kill all geth you'd pick red instead of green.

and about that spoiler tag...
