I deinstalled my second card and installed drivers with only one card in. everyhting is fine now. I will install the second card again and try to get it up and running. btw: the performance in bf4 with only one card was only slighty worse then with 2 cards....

I've installed the second card and booted windows. but for some reason I wasn't asked if I want to enable CrossfireX. it just was already enabled. and I still have the redscreen problem with bf4. trying to reinstall the beta drivers

Hi. I've deinstalled my second card now and I think I won't install it again, cause it didn't give me the performance I was aiming for.

This screen is my current GPU Usage:

First red bar: Game started with all setting on low - 100% resolution scaling
2nd red bar : I set my resolution scale to 50% (gpu usage went down :/ )
3rd red bar: I reset the resolution scale back to 100% and set textures and texture filtering to high. mesh and terrainquality to ultra and aa to 2x

I have good performance on every Setting. 100fps +. BUT I want to reach a stable 144fps for my 144hz monitor. And if I try to lower my settings the GPU usage is lowering accordingly. And I have no idea why.

EDIT: ULPS is disabled

Odd, it's like your CPU is a bottleneck when it really shouldn't be. Low GPU usage when you turn down the settings usually indicates a CPU bottleneck.

the thing is, in other games my gpu usage is fine. like in skyrim: i have a full 100% gpu usage there. but what I find to be very odd is the fact, that when I turn down my graphic settings the gpu usage is going down as well and so are fps. wouldnt it be "normal" if the gpu usage would stay the same i would get more fps? I mean isnt that what turning down graphics for performance is all about. I have almost the same fps in every single setting. except when i max the game out with 4x aa and HBAO and such things.

I monitored my CPU usage now as well and it's hoving around 80%. Im not sure if that is normal or if it should be higher?!

Most settings in games usually effect GPU usage alot more than CPU usage. So if your CPU is the bottleneck, taking some strain off the GPU wouldn't help much.

The odd thing here is that you're running a 4670k at 4.4ghz... I actually don't play BF4 myself, but I always though the recent BF games were very well threaded and mostly GPU bound.

Unpark your cores

Then go into your BIOS, and disable EIST entirely (leaving power-saving on like C7 state is OK), and see if that affects your FPS. Awhile back, I actially had a wierd problem with my Asus Z87 board where EIST would cause major lag in CPU-intensive games. I didn't say anything earlier because I thought it was a driver problem.

I will see if disabling EIST in my bios will change something. I actually unparked my cores already.
And btw: Thanks for all of your input! Even though we didn't find the cause yet, it really helps me pinpointing the problem! smile.gif
