Even if Turbo is disabled?

Yep, it's a 2.66GHz CPU (133x20) with turbo modes (133x21 on 4 cores and can also do 133x22 on a single core I believe), either way is permanently locking the turbo mode on, just called different things in different bios.

Edit - didn't see your edit smile.gif

Although I've managed to take malzmidx' advice and get the core speed to 4 ghz by Disabling Hyper-Threading ; I left Turbo still Enabled. (I just don't know why I don't Disable Turbo, maybe I want to see that "x21" there, maybe it's me wanting to squeeze every bit from the bclock...)

Current VCore is 1.3.1V

Max Core Temp: 72 C

However, in Prime95, one of the cores is still giving me the finger.

What the hell is wrong with that little brat?

Must I absolutely feed that sucker with more Volts to get it to do it's job like Bit_reaper's suggestion?

I think you need to do some fine tuning on the other settings. What are your current voltages on the rest of the system? The instability is not always due to the CPU it self it can also be due to ram.

I'd say bump up the qpi/uncore (VTT) to at least 1.30 perhaps even 1.35

Then set

IOH: 1.20
ICH: 1.20

Still giving you trouble. Check the ram timings. You should at lest change the timing mode to N2

Sometimes you can get a bit extra stability by adjusting the

CPU voltage amplitude: +800mv (give or take a step)
CPU Skew: +300ps (give or take a step)

Don't do all thees changes at once. Do them in order and test between to see if on of them helped.

I've set my cpu clock skew to 300ps while amplitude was 700. Now the PC won't start. It's stuck on a continous restart cycle. disconnected the psu, what should I do? worriedsmiley.gif

Reset the bois, (remove battery for 10 mins or there's a jumper to reset it).

So you can't get into the Bios? Then you need to clear the cmos. Do this by either using the clear cmos jumper or pulling the battery.

Its a bit odd though. The GA-EX58-UD3R is supposed to have an DualBIOS so it really should not get stuck like that.

I had to short-circuit the sucker with a damn screwdriver. No jumpers were to be found...

Anyways, unto the BIOS once more!thumb.gif

So obviously that amp and skew values aren't working. What now? Perhaps there are some odditites with my memory timings?

Ok so you got your settings set back up as they where. Try running prime95 large ftt and then run prime95 small fft. If you get errors with large ftt but not small fft then we are going to have a closer look at the memory. Otherwise we go back to CPU settings.

I just updated my original post with earlier findings. But after clearing Cmos, I decided to run a Prime95 with the newly-defaulted bios settings. Neither large fft, nor small fft passes. I don't understand this, how can stock be as unstable as overclocked? (Edit: Perhaps even more so!)
