Driver issue with x1950xtx 512mb Sapphire

I just got this card yesterday and installed fine. Installed the 6.12 drivers and was able to play fine all night. I start the computer this afternoon and and I get past post see the XP loading screen but never make it to the log in screen. My monitor just turns off as I lose the video signal. I can boot fine to safe mode so I uninstall the drivers and the computer boots fine. I install the same 6.12 drivers with the exact same problem. I uninstall everything and try the 6.11 drivers. I have the same problem will not make it to xp log in screen.

I will go and clean all of ATI in the registry but I fear the same issue will occur. Anybody have this issue before? I don't really feel like formatting if it is just a driver install issue.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated......

Tried 3 different ATI drivers and uninstalled each from the registry and used driver cleaner pro to make sure there were no remnants.

Then I used the sapphire install disc which lead to the same probelm --- video cut out right before windows log in.

Unplugged all non-important hardware from power supply, dvd drive, floppy, fans. Made sure that the gpu had it's own direct power cable to psu and did not use a split cable to another hardware device.

Ran system restore to last know good configuration to a date before I installed this card.

Going to format a spare 60 gig hdd and put fresh xp install.

I have another spare new power supply that I can swap out and test.
This is my current PS as it should be enough I thought.

Last call is swapping card to my mce pc as a test but it has a weaker PSU.

Then I might call newegg for a card swap as this one was an open box for less money.

Are there any other drivers than ATI that I could try? Does anybody have any other suggestions.

Make completely sure you are using this procedure ..Also try the 6.10...They are good drivers

Installing Graphic card driver efficiently!!! When you Update your graphics cards drivers theres ways that you should go about it. Follow these simple steps below.

1.Download and install ''Driver Cleaner'' Here:
http://www.drivercleaner.net/professional.html
2.Uninstall your Current Display drivers such as your ''ATI'' or ''Nvidia'' drivers.
3.Now run ''Driver cleaner'' and depending on the Drivers you have you will have to select either ''ATI'' or ''Nvidia'' from the drop down menu. Only select the main title of the driver in the drop down such as just ''ATI'' or ''Nvidia''
4.Once you have selected Your driver click on the ''Start'' button and this will now start the driver cleaning process. ( Do this twice to be sure )
5.Now reboot your system and Download the latest Nvidia or ATI and go ahead and install them.

Doing this avoids driver corruption and conflicts so you can now enjoy smooth gameplay

Yep I tried that too ENTERPRISE1701 the 6.10 drivers and the warcat ones also. Funny the warcat drivers worked last night for hours and many reboots amazingly enough but when I woke up this morning my pc got stuck right before the login screen again lol. Same thing all over again it never makes it over night!

So I formatted another drive put a fresh xp install on it then added ati's 6.12 and the same problem. I give up I could try putting it in my other pc but the PS is kinda low. I could try my second boxed up unused PSU but I think I am over it. Going to have newegg send another card

All out of ideas.....

I have heard that there are some issues with ati's drivers for the x1950xt, and that your best bet is to use the drivers that came with your card's install cd. Or you might want to try the omega drivers.

I had a ton of trouble with my x1950Pro drivers. Use Warcat drivers. They work perfectly for me.

Finally popped the card in my other rig and as soon as I installed drivers and rebooted the same thing happened loss of video right before login. Took it to a friends house with a very powerful system and the same thing. I knew it was the card but I was in denial. Lot of work went into testing this thing. I used warcat and ati from 10 up to 12 of the latest drivers. The card would work sometimes but when the pc was shutdown over night the next day it would get the same issue, an absolute mystery to me.

Just got the RMA from newegg via e-mail luckily they are not going to charge me 50 bucks for a re-stock fee.

Lesson learned stay away from open boxed components, sometimes there is a reason they were returned in the 1st place....

Cheers guys wish me luck on the next card. Time to pop in my old x800.

Yep I used Warcat and they worked until next morning's reboot I am sure they would work now. I contacted ATi for a final question before I sent back to newegg, about my issue and they said make sure all drivers for your mobo are updated. I thought I did this already.... latest bios and drivers blah blah blah.

The one driver and the only driver I forgot to update was the cpu driver I guess that is a chipset driver? It was the cool n' quiet driver for my cpu from Asrock's latest. Well after installing this one driver this card seems to be working properly. I overclocked my 3500+ to 2.5 GHz and I just ran 3dmark 2005 and I got a 9807 score. Is that a good score as I am new to OCing? Without OCing my cpu I get a 9222 so is that a mild bump or a good bump of almost 600 points in 3dmark due to this OC?

Ati tool said core is 647 instead of 650 and mem is 999 instead of 1000 is that normal to be a little underclocked? Even though I imagine that it is only slightly underclocked.

Man what a lesson make sure you update all your mobo drivers

This sounds like the issue I was/am having. Same thing with the PC not booting, and turning off. It happens a lot when I try and wake it up in the morning. Now I may have screwed something else up because it won't boot at all. But if I can get it to boot again, I will be sure to make sure everything is up to date.
