at 2560x1440, is AA still needed?

Like in TF2? I know different engines handle aliasing differently so I request that game.

I have a qnix qx2710 which is one of the best Korean 1440p monitors and I don't use any form of AA. To me, there barely any difference and it's not worth the performance hit.

Yes, AA is still needed. But it's easier to ignore the aliasing.
With perfect 4x(SGSS)AA you will see less jaggies than with 8x in 1080p@24", but some content (like vegetation) will still be a bit more noisy in motion.

In theory, yes, AA is always necessary, even at very high resolutions.

In reality, I never use anything more than 2X MSAA. Just use radeonpro and inject light SMAA into everything, that's all you really need at 1440p biggrin.gif

I don't use any more than 2x aa at 1440p. 4x and 8x don't seem to bring any visual improvements. Fxaa also seems less blurry in 1440p.

Anything under 200PPI needs AA if possible(for your hardware). Even if the pixels are not directly detectable you will see a difference(if your eyes work properly LOL)

I have a Crossover Q27 1440p monitor and like most guys here mentioned no more then 2XMSAA is necessary. As far as FXAA goes I personally hate it as it blurs the overall image quality and detail of games, I would rather have NO AA then FXAA

1440p is not a super resolution, AA is needed as much as 1080p and alising without filters is nice visible.
if you delete aliasing forever u must buy a 24" 4K !!!

This won't solve aliasing either, just look at those mobile displays.
