Logitech G5 replacement...looking at G400S?

Thread Starter
Been using my trusty G5 now for 5+ years, but it's finally starting to show some wear and tear, and I think it's time to move on. I have been looking in the $40 -$80 range, and am thinking the G400S looks like a great buy that will keep me with the MX518 shell style I have grown to love. I don't want to be disappointed in the purchase, and would be open to other options in my price range.

I don't think you could do much better unless you could find a G400 original but Rev. 2 on eBay or something. The G400s has a little but more latency since it is using an SROM with 4000 CPI for the max step. The G400 does not. Keep in mind that both mice though work most properly on 800 CPI and track at a good solid 4 m/s from my own testing with Enotus. You'll be set for any sensitivity that isn't super high.

As you come from G5 then I think you can't go wrong with the G400 since it has the same shape
the G5 is a laser and the G400 is an optical mouse
