from the comments, its 12 bad stars vs 24 positive ratings
seems like high rate of failure? are people just installing them wrong or something, its supposedly a beast card and i wanted to buy it locally but now i dunno
want to know what are everyones thoughts on this,

s asus build quality going down the drain or what

No it's not, as you can see it has issues, don't buy it. It has the same problems as the 7970 Matrix did as well where it artifacted and crashed even with the factory OC for many users. Most of the GPU's they use on them can't handle the clocks.

thanks for reply, so the gpu cant handle the matrix rog clock speeds? what if one just lowered the clocks, that should stabilize it?

If you get a 'normal' non reference 280x you can OC it yourself, just see how far you can go on the clocks. And you save some cash.

thanks but i actually dont intend to overclock, i just like the heatsink its absolutely beautiful and if anything i probably would have underclocked it just to reduce the heat but even then its supposed to be the coolest running 280x i think,

My friend got one second hand like-new, and yes, it artefacts under Asus's clock... We suspected it just needed more voltage, but... (7970)

Also the first time I've read that someone thinks Asus' older DC II cooler as "absolutely beautiful". What do you know...
