FX-8350 Core Switching/Drops

Thread Starter
This has been happening for a little while now, and now its starting to be a bit of a problem.

Occasionally, A task on one "core" of my CPU is suddenly thrown into the next core, which causes an application failure.
In the following picture, I was installing a game from Origin, when my install crashed. I tried again, and got the problem in Task Manager
If you look carefully at Core 7/8, the task suddenly dropped from one, to another.

What I'm wondering:
is this a normal CPU Phenomena?
or is it just my chip and/or software?

Thanks so much guys!

Look at top right corner on webpage there is somethingh that says "rigbuilder", fill it out asap! MAkes it easier for us to help you 'smile.gif

Are your rig clocked? First thing that comes to my mind is that you have to low vcore. Cause i have had the problem when one core fails when ive run to low vcore. So try increase your vcore 1notch and re-run what was causing your problem!

This is normal for the fx series and is probably not causing the application to fail. Have you checked the integrity of the game install for lost/missing files? Most programs such as Steam and Origin have a utility built in for that.

Thanks hyp3rtraxx, I just did that.
I checked the game install, and when I ran it today, it went perfectly fine.
I Think I can rule out that it was Origin, for this problem happens on other applications too, just origin was the first time when it actually caused an app to fail.

Thanks so much!

Ouch...nothing like seeing the sad bias that Windows has against AMD hardware. Then again, there isn't that much of a better environment anywhere else either though you can squeeze more out custom compiling in Linux. Out of curiosity, this wouldn't have been fixed with that one windows update patch yet...or was that for WIN8 only? What about core parking?

Haha, I'm also running a copy of Ubuntu, but you're right, such a problem never happens there.
What patch are you referring to?

I don't know the specifics because it didn't affect me...but I could have sworn it was either for win8 or all of windows and it had to do with correcting the way windows handles threading tasks. I'm sure someone would have stumbled on it but I can look if you want.

The Stilt Over at Xtreme Systems Had already made 2 Windows 7 isos a core version and a Windows Ultimate both x64 he also developed a the bulldozer conditioner the Key for windows is not provided so you will have to supply that to your self the iso has a standard 30 days grace. From personal experience this iso in conjunction with my ocing and bulldozer conditioner I have and do see a huge performance difference and stability e.g I used to have a huge issue with my on board usb 3.0 driver/controller where it would load at 20% randomly across all my cores and cause unwanted loading and temperatures this iso has fix this issue for me people on newegg have also reported the same issue I had for my board GA970A-UD3P. Here are the links the final iso is on the second page of that link but i recommend everyone read it from start.

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?286185-Something-small-for-AMD-users-Windows-7-Ultimate-x64-%28AMD-PTL%29

This below is the link to the conditioner which works on both vishera and bulldozer
