I have a xigmatek vector s750 80 silver 750 watt psu. It says 12v1 32A 12v2 32A 12v3 32A 12v4 32A and all these can output 744 watt portion. Product page is http://www.xigmatek.com/product.php?productid=193&type=specification. My question can I run single sapphire r9 290x tri-x with good values and maybe overclock later on. And also a year from now I consider buying a second exact same card can this psu support crossfire of these cards?

Your PSU is a multi 12v rail PSU

That just means you need to be carefull not to overload a rail otherwise the PSU will shut off

Why did you pick that PSU

Its made by Andyson and that tells me its probably not very good

It came along with Xigmatek Talon case I bought smile.gif so what does multi 12v rail psu means exactly in terms of performance amd in general? I bough Sapphire R9 290X Tri-X OC few days ago, if it is mutli rail does it mean it may not support my card's hungry power needs? How can someone overloads a single rail? My card has one 8 pin and one 6 pin PCIe power connectors, so should I feed them from differen PCIe cables? Because there is one cable running from PSU with two 8 pin heads; so would you recommend I use one of that headers only and then get second header from PSU's second modular PCIe exits available to use? This way I assume I get power from two different rails and therefore safe for working?

yes feed it from 2 different cables which should be 2 different rails smile.gif

So you are sure that it is safe to feed gfx card from two different rails, not from the two headers from the same rail. But this means that I will get varying voltages coming from the two different rails no?
