Just raise your FSB untill your memory is running at 400mhz.

Nope dude. It doesn't work.. When I reach to 400Hz @ Ram Speed, system locks down - I mean it doesn't boot. As I mentioned above, everytime that I raise FSB too 400 MHz I have to clear CMOS in order to boot.

Try to update your mobo to the last bios version, it may solve your problem
post #14 of 34
I am having the same problems with my board, however i am running an AMD. So far i havent been able to figure out why it is happening either. I have attempted to change the memory timings to those that are specified on the memory manufacturers website to no avail. It freezes just the same. It seems to me that the gigabyte boards suffer from poor overclocking abilities and memory issues. I have also made sure that I ahve the most up to date bios version. If i can find any more info ill post it here.

Update: I am having PSU issues now. i am going to try a new power supply tonight. I am also having video card artifacting and freezing. Both fans have died in my PSU. Its time for a new one. heres the one im getting.

I am also thinking this is related to my memory issue due to lack of the correct voltage getting to the memory. Guess we will see.

I think it's stupid by Intel by making this. My 166FSB AMD runs fine with DDR400 RAM, though I'm running it at DDR333 @ 2-2-2-6

The Intel spec sheets say a 533 mhz P4 can run with DDR400 RAM. It could very well be the motherboard manufacturer that is at fault here.

Correct! It's the MB manufacturer Gigabyte!
Do I have to sue them?
