Would you get it? I sure would. I'm curious if members of this forum would?

Native PowerPC v2.07
32MB L2 cache
64MB L3 cache
Hardware x86 decoder
Boot support for x86 media provided by hardware decoder
3072-contact pinless socket
20GHz
1 core
100W
20GHz Front Side Bus
No multiplier
Bus speed, cache ratios, bus dividers, and voltages modifiable through DIP switches soldered to mainboard and card
CPUs soldered to daughter card containing cache, VRMs, and the socket
Card would connect to main board through its 3072 pin socket
Up to 8 CPUs per card
So, one card could have 8 CPUs but one socket and bus
Open Firmware with GUI
Free (free as in freedom, not free beer) CPU design
Card would attach magnetically to board with flat contacts on board and card
CPU would be built on 14-nanometer SOI process

Northbridge:
Support for 8-channel DDR4
16 RAM slots
Memory controller on northbridge
Support for 6000MHz DDR4
128 lanes of PCIe bandwidth
16 single width 16 lane PCIe 3 slots
PCIe bandwidth allocatable with DIP switch
Backside bus at 200MHz stock
Adjustable backside bus divider

Southbridge:
24 USB 3 ports
Four Thunderbolt 2 Ports
12 SAS 12G ports
12 SAS 12G to 6G SATA adapters included with mainboard
Wired networking avalible on optional PCIe card
Sound avalible on optional PCIe card

No, I dont see how a single core cpu would be of any benefit.

I would for experimentation purposes at least. Depending on the actual single threaded performance, this could be highly useful for those applications bound by it.

1 core, no. 6 or higher, yes.

That's a crazy cpu. I can't imagine anyone would want that configuration.

Why the Native PowerPC v2.07? Just so you can have fun supporting some odd server software, old mac software, or trying to run xbox360 games? Should have thrown ARM, MIPS, and a few other oddball instruction sets in there as well.

1 core? Even with amazing IPC @ 20ghz that would only put you on par with something like 8cores @ 2.5ghz.

8 cpu's per card - @ 100w per CPU. That's 800w for just a maxed out CPU 'card'. It's gonna need a beefy PSU even assuming its for a headless server and not pushing highend GPU's.

With all that power, I hope the CPU is capable of throttling down somehow - might be challenging since it's already on a 1x multiplier, I guess it will all be done thru bus speed adjustments?

It might be amusing to play with but at $600 a pop, it really doesnt meet my modest gaming needs.

I'm was thinking of a new version of the G5. Speed through GHz, not cores.
