Even I want to upgrade my HD6670 1 GDDR5 (Sapphire), I'm inclined towards Sapphire R9 290 (Tri-X). It might be somewhere around USD 650 (INR 40,000/-) here in Mumbai

The ridiculous thing is the 290 LAUNCHED at $400 USD. Launched prices are always really inflated, but they went UP.

You should consider a 760, or a used 670. Nvidia wasn't hit by the miner craze, though 780s are still expensive for whatever reason.

I could have even opted for a 780 Ti but...
Even I plan to do mining when PC is idle like starting at night and ending up at noon next day, so Radeon for this purpose. And also, perf/watt 290 -> 290X and tri-x is already factory OC'ed and gigantically cooled by 3-fans, that makes it a worthy option, do you have any other suggestions??

I've been also looking towards 3D, I even started a thread in Monitors & Displays section but to my distress even after 5 days I'm still waiting for suggestions & help. link to my thread http://www.overclock.net/t/1457118/good-3d-monitor-for-gaming-on-amd-radeon-hd6670-1-gb-gddr5-using-amd-hd3d/0_100

Close, but I usually shave, and I definitely don't have the wrist brace.

It's all Mining's fault. Just wait until it gets hot out... Mining makes a ton of heat, and I'm willing to bet people aren't ready for summer. tongue.gif

Wow that's funny. Try more like half that, if not sooner. Even less time if you don't pay for power. (For LTC)

Regardless, for most people that's doing it wrong. You buy the GPU, use it to game when you want to, and mine while at work, or school, or sleeping. Mining more than pays for the power it uses, even with nVidia cards. Nothing wrong with hardware paying for itself, especially if you were considering it anyway.

See? Like this guy.

Anyway, if you want 3D, you're probably better off nVidia and one of their supported monitors. Less headache, simply put.

Though miners have gone crazy for radeons, Indian sellers still have a lot of radeons in stock. Its so bad news that newegg and tigerdirect don't ship to India, they do sell it through ebay (GEB) but that has added costs.

As I said, nVidia was my choice, but this mantle, hybrid CFX and OpenCL thing turned my decision towards radeon and I'll stick with it.

Of course nVidia is first choice for 3D, but due to other uses intended for the card I won't go for nVidia for now, at-least until nVidia doesn't come up with something like mantle (their own version or even better would be supporting mantle api itself)

Okay. I don't even know why I'm bothering to respond since you are clearly clueless. Actually that is why I'm responding.

First off, who are you to decide who can buy a product? most countries are capitalist and the person with the money gets the product. Sorry the demand is high because of us miners but if you don't like it don't buy one. Just don't try to spread your stupidity around and insult people. K thx

Sure, everyones entitled to an opinion, but at least have some sense frown.gif

Let's put it in the simple way.
Around 6months ago a 7970 was $270-450 ( from reference to one of these big name GHz models)
Now a 280x which is an equivalent is $400-440
If you can't spend the extra $50 from the supply and demand going on, then do yourself a favor and buy a cheaper card you can afford.

Are you going to complain about every person who has a decent job and can afford a nice car and say because they are succeeding in what they do that they are "ruining it" for you?

Cheaper card?
Everything from 270 (non-x) and up is out of stock. Sometimes random 290X for $700+ stays around half a day.

Stores here implementing lines, need to wait 2-6 weeks depend on model. Except for R9 280 - they are simply impossible.
Supply Channels are reserved for like 2 months ahead.
Factories now takes order lead out time for June...

Out of radeon topic:
middle AM3 motherboards are out now
FX-6XXX and FX-8XXX CPUs are out
From are week also stores are out of decent PSUs over 750W

Sounds like disaster (or golden age for AMD smile.gif)
