Can you power four R9 270's with 850w?

Thread title.
Also what would be a good one that is gold or higher rating and preferably the most cost efficient. I was looking at xfx pro gold but im not sure if there are cheaper ones that are just as good/better

I myself wouldn't. The cards alone will be pulling something like 650w at full load, and your CPU pulls about 180w, so without any other parts, your GPUs and CPU pull 830w or so.

1000w at the very least, so you can have peace of mind or two 500w, if you can fit em in your case.

It might work if the PSU is a good one. Your gaming power consumption might end up being 700-750W.

With one R9-270 under full load in their system, their PSU pulled 254W from the wall outlet. Their CPU was idling, so I have to add up to 150W for a well-overclocked CPU. This makes the PSU pulling 404W from the wall outlet. Now, in the linked review above, they found that the card itself pulled 143W by itself. 143 x 3 (for 3 extra cards plus the 1 original) is 429W. So, adding 429W to 404W is 833W, meaning the PSU would then be pulling 833W from the wall outlet. If your PSU is 90% efficient while pulling 833W from the wall outlet, then that  means the computer is pulling 750W from the PSU.

It's for mining, it will have minimal components and a low end cpu

Then your peak power draw would be 700W. However, this wouldn't be good for a 24/7 power consumption on an 850W PSU. For a 24/7 ~650-700W power consumption, I recommend a 1050W to 1200W PSU because then the power consumption will be in the PSU's sweet spot for maximum efficiency.

It would be ok, as long as it's a good PSU. I would recommend a good 1500W-1600W PSU in order to maximize the efficiency.
