It is a setting apparently meant to throttle if it goes over a set power draw if i read correctly, so yes. Disable it and you shouldn't have problems in that regard.

I did on my rev. 1.1 ga-990xa-ud3. I know later revisions of this board don't have the option in the bios.

Strange. Either it became a default setting of on or off in the bios and the option was removed or the board stopped using this feature by choice of manufacturer. I know of no ways to turn it off outside of the bios and therefore believe there isn't one. I think boards just went with the normal power saving functions that we all see and are familiar with on boards (cool n quiet, etc..) wink.gif
