Can't get past 223FSB with Opteron 165! - Page 2

That is completely normal for that stepping beret. I also had that exact same stepping a while back and was stable at 2.8 @ 1.38 vcore, however, when attempting to hit 3.0 I had to pump the vcore up too 1.58 just to have any semblance of stability. The toledo core starts hitting a wall at 2.8, from there on they need massive amounts of vcore. Either way, great stepping, enjoy it!

if its a new cpu then you will have to burn it in first then it may hit the higher fsb. =)

I can go 334x9 @ 1.5V...I can boot up, and run benchmarks, and everything..but in Orthos it's not stable, so

Well thats good to know actually. I thought I just got a bad chip or something... The fact that it's stable at 2.75Ghz(wanted it at stable clocks for school)@1.35, I think is amazing. I love this chip!!! I really want it to go 3Ghz though. Also, I think like a weeks worth of folding is burn-in right?

*sigh* I'd thought I'd try again today but I can't seem to get past 325x9! I keep upping the VCore and it just wont boot. I'm actually thinking I hit the FSB wall for my motherboard since the BIOS just freezes up everytime I try 325. Any ideas?

It's possible that you did hit the wall. You could lower your multiplier, and see if you can go above 325 ( to see if you hit the wall )

What's your ram running @????It may be more of a ram timing issue at this stage in the game...Can you adjust your chipset v and your ht v??

yea i can. They happen to be running at a 1.5V Overvolt. I just might leave my ram settings at like 3-5-5-10 2T with a 100mhz divider just so I don't have to deal with the RAM until I'm ready to do so(AKA 3Ghz)

Well I would try setting your chipset at .1 over normal and ht either .05 or .1 over I don't really no what the choices are on that board...Maybe post a screen of your cpuz with the memory and the cpu shots

You can try using a different fsb, since I heard that some fsb frequencies doesn't operate that well! Like the other said...try lowering your voltage! Another thing...you have a great stepping for a 165...Me on the other hand, have one of the worst and I'm getting 2.6GHZ!
