Keeping your mousepad smooth and fast, how ?

I cant stand it when my mousepad + mouse changes its gliding characteristics over time.

Recently got the G602 + G440 (Hard plastic) combo, and when brand new the mouse glides across the surface. If you let it go or slightly pushed it it would just glide of the mousepad. But now after 2 months its horribly sluggish. Tried cleaning it with just regular warm water, rubbing it, some hand soap nothing seems to change it back to how it was. The center feels more sluggish (but only slightly) suggesting its wear but really after 2 months max 1 hour gaming a day it shouldnt be like this already.

Is it just me or does nothing they advertise last for more then 2 months ? I would consider this broken at this point.

I have tried looking for a working solution but nothing I have tried works.

Does anyone have some tips for cleaning, or stuff I can spray/put on top of the mousepad to give it back its ultra smooth glide ?

G440 is a Hard plastic mousepad.

And as I said, washing of any kind doesnt seem to help at all.

The SteelSeries Team Editions mousepads when they are brand new out of the box they come with a "stuff" on them that works better with the mouse skatez. It's kind of a very thin layer of a chemical clay, or something that holds and stays on the mousepad until the first wash.

I had all of the Team mousepads from SS and all of them were the same out of the box.

Just wanted to share this info with you, guys. Maybe it helps...

The only pad that doesn't wear out is a glass pad. Everything else (cloth, plastic, aluminum) wears out quickly for me.

the teflon spray has been used before and works for your mouse feet, im not sure about directly on the pad. i guess if u applied it to the feet and pad it would work.
also we're talking about hard pads here right?

I had an issue similar to yours. I thought it was my mouse pad but it turned out that the feet of the mouse had a thin layer of debris/dirt build up. Wasn't noticeable to the naked eye. I rubbed the feet and saw the debris pull away. Cleaned the whole bottom of the mouse and it felt like new against the mouse pad once again.
