7970 core location (reference vs non-ref boards)

Ok fellas I currently have an ASUS directcu ii 7970 and I want to put in another card. They will be cooled by mcw82's along with a swiftech SLI connector.

I know ref and non-ref have different layouts with power delivery and other things, but are the cores positioned in the same location on ref and non-ref cards?

Thank you

They will not line up afaik. But that shouldn't prove to be a burden since you'e using the swifty sli connector and as long as you use tubing to go from mcw82 to sli connector. The tubing will allow you to make up for the non-aligned core positions.

I dont know how that could work out. From the block to the sli connector I dont think the tubing can bend that much especially on what I use (3/4" 1/2" tubing).

Do you have two cards you can compare?

this really sucks because the last thing I want to do is get another 7970 and then find out the cards dont line up. My only other option is to get the same card, but that can be a little hard to do.

If you have any hope of it working, it is with tubing because the stuff bends. What do you think you need to bridge distance wise, 5 feet?? You're dealing with millimeters man, stop worrying.
