Had both side by side, samsung is great compare too the AOC.

Now that is good advice. I remember testing this monitor with a friend once and do remember the picture quality being very good for a TN panel. I had forgotten about it. BTW does this samsung support lightboost? Also remember the OP specifically wanted a 1080p monitor so a 2560x1080 monitor should be out.

I find it absolutely hilarious that people dis the asus 144hz monitor all the time, it has 447 newegg reviews with an average of 5 stars....yet if you took this forum seriously its garbage lol.

I don't think grouping the forum all together in this is viable. We have an entire club thread dedicated to this screen and TONS of positive feedback. I just think some people are mis-informed(which is why the forum has a rep system). It seems the last few suggestions reflect that and didn't really read the OP closely either.

Ya obviously the people that own it love it, its the pea brain TN haters i am talking about lol. Some people simply cannot fathom why someone would prefer a fast motion screen while sacrificing a bit of image quality, its those types of people i am talking about (there are a ton of these weirdos on this forum). I have no time for elitists and snobs, the majority of people that are in the market for a 120+hz panel are likely coming from a normal 60hz tn (which they thought was an amazing upgrade as well, likely coming from a CRT) and they will be absolutely blown away with what 120+hz brings to the table, yet you will find tons of people on this forum that will call it trash just cause the panel is TN.

Heck, even the new 27" asus 1440p/120hz monitor is TN and you already have yahoo's calling it trash because of it, and they haven't even seen it lol.

OP go with the asus man, you will be absolutely thrilled with it.

There will always be false dichotomies going on everywhere. Hopefully the OP and other members can see through them and make an informed decision.

Careful with name calling though(against TOS)

He's pretty much seen it all and like me, he loves the beauty of IPS panels, so it takes a lot to impress him.

I've used the IPS Panel he uses, the Acer 23 H236HL inch or H276HL bmid. Those monitors have good colors but terrible deep blacks.

The monitor I really want to own is the Dell S2440L

I've seen it in person and it is much better than IPS Panels. It's a VA LED screen and it has the best deep blacks and colors I have ever seen, the only downside is it doesn't have a Display Port and it's glossy finish is bad if you set it near a light source.

And as far as I know. TN Panels are made for gaming, so the colors on them look bad, even though they do have superior respond times.

Have the Asus VG248qe, it's recommended everywhere, but the colors are absolutely horrible. Heavy AG coating, washed out colors, and the worst viewing angle I've ever seen. I've had plenty of TN panels and this is the worst in terms of colors. I "upgraded" from a 120hz Benq xl2410t that I gave to my gf and that thing had much better color reproduction and not as heavy AG coating. Though the xl2410t had bad black crush so it was hard to see in some dark games.

Now if you honestly don't care about color reproduction, then get it. I will say I was able to get it acceptable with a colorimeter. I'm not one for caring about IPS panels and perfect color reproduction, but this monitor drove me to get a colorimeter. Those praising this monitor must be coming from the worst TN panels possible, only care about 144hz, or be color blind.

Those people who say we must be coming from a 60hz panel, well I was coming from a 120hz panel, and this is my review.

The Samsung SA950 seemed to be the best monitor mentioned but it appears to be discontinued...

Is there any other monitor comparable? My next option would be the Asus VG but it doesn't seem to be all that good

But did you have a 60hz TN before your 120hz benq? I bet you did!

Also, i bought this panel 3 years ago for 100 bucks:

Basically you are guaranteeing the vg248qe has worse colors than this random thing?
