Refoam Paradigm Titans

Thread Starter
Just pulled apart one of my Titan v3s and it needs to be refoamed. I have found a few sources online to order refoam kits but not sure if any are reputable. I have 4 Titans that I purchased at the same time and I'm thinking of just refoaming them all. Any good reputable kits you guy can recommend? Tips for the refoam Process. I am using these for my HT setup along with a PDR10 and a CC-170. I would like to upgrade my setup but being in an apartment and having a pretty low budget doesn't help.

Thanks In advance.

98.99% sure I used a kit from http://www.speakerworks.com/ when I refoamed some 10" Pyle Pros. One was damaged beyond repair (it had been run too hard with bad foam) and the other has been a booming home theater sub for almost 5 years thumb.gif

So, tips.

the foams we got were ever-so-slightly too small for the speakers, so my dad and I made a corrugated cardboard circle the exact same diameter as the outside of the cone and stretched the foam over it. You may want to do this anyway as it gives you a nice surface to put some weight on while the glue sets and helps it stay in place.

We then used a mirror and flashlight to look up at the cone from below to center the foam because the cardboard made seeing from above impossible.

We did not remove the dust cap to install coil shims. We just worked the cone up and down and adjusted until it didn't rub. If you do remove the dust cap, don't cut the areas of the cap that are glued to the cone- leave that there and just cut around it.

Remember that you should NOT cut or or tear ANY part of the cone (even a little bit!), or it WILL come apart. If you can't get it off without risking damage to the cone, leave it!

Its really not that hard, though.

Awesome. Thanks for the Tips. Will be ordering foam in a few days. Hope they turn out well. I won't be removing the dust cap, From everything I've read so far I will center it manually while the glue is still tacky.
