Havent tried fc3 since i got the 780tis, but im guessing itll be the same.

Yea, still unstable OC. FWIW, FC3 doesn't seem that sensitive as things stand right now, for me there are several more OC sensitive games. Sleeping Dogs among them, but not the worst offender.

Throttling there for sure..

I agree, useless article. But they didn't get to 1200/1600 since they weren't stable even for a benchmark run.

I would say semi stable, one benchmark is nothing. But the issue here is, that the vrm's where 100c+ for sure.

IMHO, there is no such thing as semi stable. The Sleeping Dogs built-in benchmark takes less than two minutes to run. If you can't get even that much out of an overclock, you're nowhere near stable.

You are forgetting the fact that he bench with fans on auto...that might cause huge instability. Being able to end all of the others tests, means that the cards are generally stable, how stable? we don't know because he used auto fans. Also other 290/290x freeze in like few seconds on many different tests when you go over 1150/1450 generally. This cards go far beyond from the info i read by now, and from OCN users as well thumb.gif

so cross fire on those cards now provide almost 100% increase in performance?

Sleeping dogs is a torture test for AMD cards. It pulls significantly higher wattage than any other game or benchmark out there. It pulls more wattage than firestrike or firestrike extreme. Only furmark, OCCT and all those gpu killers pull more wattage than the final indoors scene in that sleeping dogs benchmark. (assuming you use the extreme preset with vsync off)

Thread Starter
Yeah I noticed a few issues with their methodology, however it still goes to show that these cards can reach great clocks and that the Sapphire cards are very promising. Also they have Hynix memory which is a plus as seen in their memory clocks too. I personally love that they left the stock PCB, because it is quite likely that I will WC later on smile.gif

steps on how to properly review hardware with overclock:

1. Set Fan Speed from "Auto" to "100%"
2. Set Power Limit from "0%" to the Maximum possible.
3. Set Voltage from "Default" to the Maximum possible.
4. Start Overclocking the Core.
5. Make sure the Overclocking is stable on Core.
6. Start Overclocking the Memory.
7. Make sure the Overclocking is stable on Memory.
8. Make absolutely sure that your Overclock is 100% stable on everything you do by not just running each Benchmark for the duration, but to let it loop for atleast 30min in each Becnmark.
9. Write the Review.

what's so hard about following these steps?

worthless article.

Agreed to a point. I've had my personal fun with Sleeping Dogs, some of which can be found by clicking the links in my sig. It is a brutal test but it is a game -- a very playworthy game -- and as such, actually relevant for stability. Unlike the power viruses.
