Or hd 7870/270 non x

All are the same card with the difference that some 270 non x couldnt reach more than 1.1ghz on core

Whichever you find cheaper will do the trick

if you want a inferior card then yes. but the 660 is about the same as the 290x this is my opinion based on the bad experiances I have had with the AMD cards both new generation and older.. I am not trying to troll but I actually would have the 660 before the 290X even if they were free and I did not have to pay for them. Sorry about this but this has been my experiance and opinion!

For the same reason they increased bus width on their GTX 760 which is a beast of it's kind. thumb.gif

It's true, you can turn all the eye candy with a GTX 660 including NVIDIA PhysX but with R9 290X, you can't. tongue.gif

EDIT:
By the way, from what I've seen 270X is more similar to HD 7870 because of overclockability, 1200c isn't a problem for many. thumb.gif

I also had many video cards but I stopped in reading reviews a few years ago. I got from an Nvidia Geforce 256 to a Nvidia 6600GT to a Nvidia 7900GTX to an AMD HD2900XT to an AMD HD4850 (current) and I was pleased with all of them except the 7900GTX which toasted itself in 10 months.. Also, I don't give a crap about PhysX and I wouldn't buy a card just for it. I think games look pretty enough without it too. I just want the most powerful videocard I can afford and from what I understood , 7870 / R9 270 it's the way to go.
Cold hard cash.

Nobody knows what these companies have in their mind, if a mid-end chip like GK104 can be sold as GTX *80 part then this can happen too. I also read somewhere that NVIDIA might get away with *60 Ti-variant this time around (for the desktop market, that is). thumb.gif
