Lol at shilka remark. That psu could be the reason of that weird startup but i'm not sure about that
You give it back and then what...? Back to your old 7950?

If i return my GPU, im getting a fresh, still sealed not even touched by tousand of hands package.

op, i have to agree with Tiez. you are basing your decision on one benchmark, is it? Heaven and Valley do not play well with the 290s. try another bench like 3DMark11 or the games you play.

my 7950 was not a good clocker.

edit: and oc that cpu. you've got to but that will mean getting a new psu.

I would be very interested to see the result if you try that. I expect around the same score in your benchmark.

What kind of score were you expecting?

around 52-55
That's a normal expectation. But what you've got is a normal score. When OC'ed you'll get around that expectation possible higher with that after market cooler.

RDR09 is getting 61fps for his OC'ed 290 combined with a i7 2700k.

Is the 750 Watt Corsair CX750M enough to handle my system?

Well i want to breach the 50 so badly, its like knocking doors, doors open, but not walking into it.

ask or pm shilka . . .

http://www.overclock.net/t/1455892/why-you-should-not-buy-a-corsair-rm-psu

i only have a crappy cougar 700w psu but so far i have no issues except that my i7 at 5GHz is no longer stable. it could be the chip tough.

there are 2 recent heaven benchmarks - Heaven 3 and, of course, Heaven 4. you might be looking at the former. getting even 1 fps higher in Heaven 4 is a challenge. much like Valley.

edit: let me put it to you this way . . . at least your 290 is not giving you those weird blackscreens. mine, too, so its a keeper.

I think your PSU is causing your problems.

I had same issue with my older PC when cheap Chinese 400w PSU was not enough for GTS 450 and e7400 which caused same start up issues you have. OFC i had no clue what was happening so i ignored it for a month until my MOBO died.

That 750W is 'enough' but personally I don't even look at corsair when searching for a PSU because some have coil whine issues and there are other manufacturers that offer better value/quality psu's.

A quality 600-650W unit will be more than enough to power your system

But when I search for RAM or cases I look at the options that corsair offers, in those branches they deliver good products.
