You should spend 10$ more on a Rosewill Capstone

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182261

Modular is the same price as the non modular so its 40$ off right now

Its 50$ AFTER rebate

The CX 500 is $30 after rebate, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139027 Most likely one of the better choices in your price range.

for the budget, thats probably the best suggestion, or i ought to say for a budget PSU . . .

but if the OP can up the ante $10 more upfront (49.99 AR)

Rosewill CAPSTONE-450-M 450W Continuous @ 50°C 80 PLUS GOLD Modular $59.99
Save: $40.00 (40%)
$49.99 after $10.00 rebate card

edit: btw, i'd suggest getting a 7850 than a 6970 . . . draws too much power for the performance. best if you can see getting a 7870 . . just saying.

Thanks for the help guys, I think i'll go with the CX 500.

I'm building a "gaming" pc for a buddy for with a budget of $200.
Getting the Athlon ii x4, mobo, and 550ti along with a hard drive and optical drive for $160. I've got a spare 4gb ram he can have and the psu is all that's left to get.
