Not all memory usable: (7.92GB usable) of 16GBs. - Page 2

My OS is definitely Home Premium as it is the same copy I was using before the water cooler install with this motherboard. Also, I've tried fiddling with the Bios settings namely the memory hole remapping and this reduces my ram further to 7200-ish MB as opposed to the recognised 8162MB. I'd also like to point out if it helps that in the bios when I have all ram in their slots that it recognizes that there is a 4096MB Ram stick in each DIMM slot running at 1600MHz. Thanks once again

yeah I was mistaken on which version he was referring to, and realized all the different version, I then posted the results.

The limit is artificially imposed by Microsoft to get you to buy the Home Premium (16GB) or Professional/Ultimate versions (192GB).

Sorry, Home Basic versions are definitely "limited" to 8GB on purpose for retail reasons. Not for technical reasons.

Greg

I have home premium and have 16Gb installed....all is usable.

Well, I was looking at another rig I have with 2x4gb and 2x2gb sticks for 12 gb, and recently It has been showing I have 11.2gb of that 12 usable. I Replaced the 2x4gb with other ones I had lying around, and the issue went away. Looks like it might be faulty hardware. Try underclocking the memory, same voltages, say from 1333 to 1066 in your bios, see if it fixes it. If it does, you have may unstable memory.

Ok, So I've tried that.

What I've also tried is removing all sticks of ram bar 1 and tried it in every slot. The system does not boot however when I have it in slot 3 or 4. So is this a motherboard fault or memory?

Thanks in advance.

I emailed Asus, Turns out the motherboard is broken and I need to send it back for RMA.
