Reputation is everything and if this is the path that Asus is comfortable threading, it will be only a matter of time before many of us enthusiasts drop them like a hat. To think I was contemplating on buying there ROG 1440P Gsnyc monitor.

I intend to ask for the proof and to also ask that they confirm or have someone else give the board a second look especially in the cpu power management area. I know the problem exists there. The board would turn on(fans spin everything) with the 24 pin connector plugged in, I tested it myself. However once I plug in the 6 pin cpu power connector, no boot. It would boot for a fraction of a second and the red CPU light would flicker on.

Haha. I kinda thought the same thing. When I read that I thought: "Who cares to compete with Dell?" And preconfig? Good grief. Its those preconfiged pieces of junk that i am now replacing for my family members every now and then when they finally can't take it anymore. Why Dell? Why?

To counter Gigabyte's assault, Asustek also recently offered free repair services for user damage on its motherboards and if the motherboards are un-repairable, the company will offer a free exchange as well as free motherboard pick up and delivery.

Well it seems this is a common tactic being used by the higher up at Asus, in order to minimize costs. Sort like a loop hole. Watch the video below. If your motherboard is not in perfect mint condition these scoundrels look for any slight cosmetic damage and then try to use that as the reason of fault to the boards malfunction.

Only place worth buying Asus products from in the UK is Amazon, if any products gets a fault, request an RMA and they send you a full refund.

What's Amazon RMA like in the USA, maybe if it's like the UK - just buy Asus products from Amazon?

That is what I have been doing the past hour. When you Google Asus RMA hardOCP is the number #1 result. One horror story after another. I don't even know if it's worth the time and effort to try and convince ASUS of there wrong doing. As of right now I am basically PC less. I am using an old Pentium 4 PC just to brose online. The people that battled it out with Asus waited eons before they got a replacement. Next time I buy a board I will pay NCIX for an in-store extended replaceable warranty. At least the retail outlet will honour there warranty unlike ASUS.

I wouldn't recommend ASUS to anyone ever again. My dad's laptop motherboard suddenly died when he was working on some Word documents. After I sent it for warranty and got it back, the SPEAKERS were dead from arrival. I didn't want to send it again 'cause they might damage something else and dad needed the laptop.

Then mom bought herself a Transformer tablet (TF101), and the LCD screens started to leek and such. I tried entering the serial number to their website for warranty support, BUT NO MATTER HOW MUCH I TRIED IT NEVER GOT THROUGH, leaving me with what essentially is a disabled' tablet.

ASUS, never again.
