They tried something like that, Xperia Play. Didn't sell well, I don't think they make it anymore.

I like this verbage better than the "targets kids" version. As some people have noted, the 3DS has some deep games for adults. I've played my son's, and I'm impressed with the device. I know full well that it's a tech blip compared to a Vita, but who cares...it's the games that matter. I doubt I will ever own a handheld console myself again, but if I had to pick one today it would unquestionably be a 3DS.[/quote]

Kind of agree with there not many games for the Vita. At best, I only got three games for mine. The 3DS on the other hand, has way more. Plus, I can still rock my DS games in it. biggrin.gif

I think the vita is starting like the psp ended- with a lot of jrpgs. Also, using my vita for remote play with my ps4 is amazing.

THIS is exactly why I opted not to buy a VITA. I saw the price of a VITA, $189.99...not bad. But then, I saw the price of something like an ASUS MemoPad HD $129.99....

More functionality, plenty of Android games.

Ds works because exclusives that people like and still like to play. It's an original experience. Vita offers nothing nostalgic.

This is what turned me off the most after my first DS purchase. I think I'm one of the few that just got so tired of the same rehashes popping up, and maybe the fact that I haven't really enjoyed a Zelda game since Link to the Past. I felt too starved for new experiences, TWEWY was the only redeeming quality of DS ownership in my eyes. 3DS looks like it's the same again, though Bravely Default is looking awesome. Rose-tinted glasses only carried me so far.

On the Vita I think I have around 10-12 games through PS+ and a couple on cartridge, I don't play handhelds too often so games like Soul Sacrifice and the new Ys get more attention than the rest. Being able to drop in and dick around for a half hour here and there is nice.

Having multiple devices to lug around is defiantly a hassle. Even so if you're a versatile and somewhat hardcore gamer and don't have a Vita, you are missing out big time. I've never been one for a portable gaming device (except my original Game Boy back in the day). I got the Vita ~6 months ago on a knee jerk reaction and was scared I would regret it. Petty much all of my gaming for the previous two years at that point had been on the PC.

I still to this day do NOT regret the purchase. It's a powerful device with integration into PSN done right. If you're already paying for PS+ on the PS4 then you automatically gain exponentially more free games when you pick up a Vita. Probably half of my 22 games I have installed on my Vita currently have been acquired via PS+ since I've owned the Vita. They aren't crap games either since a lot of them have actually turned out to be some of my favorite Vita games.

Overall I love the thing. I've defiantly spent more time on my Vita since I picked it up then my PC/PS4 combined in the same time frame.

I did the same thing and bought mine kind of on impulse. It was the combination of just getting a PS4, knowing Sony would be dropping the OLED screens, and the great deal Amazon had on the Walking Dead bundle. But after ordering I had the thought that I might regret the purchase. I do play games on my iPhone but usually grow bored with them pretty quickly, so I was fearing the same would happen with the Vita. All my fears quickly went away about an hour after I turned the device on.

Being able to stream the PS4 to the Vita is amazing. Don't feel like pausing the game to go take care of your morning constitutional? No problem. Get that achievement while you're on the throne #multitasking. I didn't buy the Vita just for that so I needed to find a game I couldn't play on the PS4 or PC. I'm a JRPG fan so I do some research and decide to download Persona 4 Golden. And guess what I end up spending my time playing... the Vita.

Are handhelds for everyone? No. Should people bash a system they haven't played, purchased and do not want? No. But they will, because this is the internet and they have free time on their hands.
