My rig is as follows:

i7 3770k
MSI 7970
Corsair AX 750
16gb Samsung "wonder" ram
ASUS maximus V formula eatx motherboard
cpu/gpu block are using prolimatech PK-1

the 7970 is cooled by a danger-den full copper block
My 3770 idles at 30c and my gpu idles at reportedly 45~c
when i try to run furmark, my computer stutters every 1~ second (video attached)
this test was run at 720p in furmark
if i try the 1080p my computer will do one of two things
1) the display will just completely go black (display just shuts off) but all fans/lights etc are still on
2) my computer will completely turn off

video of the issue happening: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Z4YKhnu4bo
picture of gpushark after test was run (look at that temp..) http://i.imgur.com/Cr4QAhh.png

maybe it's a psu issue due to the powering off?
maybe it's a faulty gpu?
maybe it's bad thermal paste..?
i just want it fixed so i can actually play games...
anyone who can provide the correct solution i'd gladly gift you a game on steam or something, that's how angry i'm getting with this! mad.gif

/e
i'll mention i haven't OC'd anything, absolutely everything in my system is running stock

dude are you kidding me? your gpu is way to hot at 45c idle and is reaching over 100c in furmark.

the gpu waterblock is not mounted correctly. go fix it quick before doing anything else or your gpu might die.

i've re-mounted the block twice using differing amounts of thermal paste.. I don't know what i'm doing wrong
maybe i should just stick the stock cooler back on?

is your loop build in the correct order? what are the cpu temps under load?

cpu idle temps seems fine so its probably the gpu block mounting.

you could try gpu stock cooler but lets make sure we checked everything else before you take your loop out.

How old is the dangerden block? Have you checked on its condition lately? (Maybe some corrosion or need to perform some maintanance on your loop)

cmon man respond quicker. nearly 2am here. i want to help you and then go to bed.

edit: did you change between different thermal pads? so 0,5mm and 1.0mm height? 0.5mm should be enough. also only one dot of thermal paste on the gpu core. dont spread it, it gets best spread by the pressure between block and core. turn the screws until they cant turn anymore so its real tight.

edit 2: the problem has definetly something to do with the gpu. so either the block is not mounted correctly be it through to heigh thermal paste or not screwed in correctly (heighly likely), the loop traps the hot water in the gpu block (possible), or your gpu is broken (unlikely)

i used the thermal pads provided by danger-den, so i assumed they were fine for using with the gpu
maybe i should just give the thermal paste another go?

/e
i'll re-mount the block and see if it helps the temps.
if not i'll just stick the stock cooler back on
thanks

it happened with manufacturer before that they would send the wrong thermal pads. so how you make sure that the block makes contact with the core is by applying thermal paste on the core, then press the block down on the card. then you take it back off and check if the thermal paste did spread on the core from pressure or not.

yeah do that. if the temps are the same after remount and after switching to stock cooler your card is broken.
