Get it now, you can always return it within the month if the new stepping is better. But i doubt that it will

i think hes referring to the e6x50 series. i believe the e6x50 series will have a fsb of 1333.

i would recommend getting a 6600 as the extra 2mb l2 cache really does speed things up.

No it doesn't really. I've compared my CPU clock to clock to many 6600's and there's pretty much no difference. I wouldn't bother waiting...

Well there are a few things to consider:

The prices (for some reason) have been slowly climbing on newegg as of late. I saw it for $189 yesterday, and it's $193 today. Ya, not that much of a difference, but the prices are getting higher all the same.

If you're really strapped for cash, you can always wait for the E4300. Sure it's single core, but it'll be a stupid fast single core processor. That way you can spend more on PSU, Mobo, RAM, etc to get the most out of your next CPU.

Just a couple of chunks of opinion for you to munch on.

If you use 2 cores a majority of the time, definitely get the E6300.

And BigVal, thanks for that info about the Cache, that makes my dream build a LOT more realistic when I don't need $300 for the CPU alone

Did you already buy one? I may be selling mine if the 6600 I'm interested in has the stepping I'm looking for.
