Indeed.

I'm going to pick one when the 7800 drops. Not willing to pay the current prices.

Probably going to have to wait a long time for that considering the 6800K is still around $130-140. I honestly don't see this chip going lower than $170 any time soon... I mean, unless you get one with a motherboard bundle.

Anyhow, looks like I'm probably going to stick with my Trinity in my HTPC. There really doesn't seem to be a reason to upgrade from it. Was hoping Kaveri would show a bit more promise.

And no. I don't think AMD should just get a pass on this release just because they are AMD. These gains are as miserably bad as Intel's. Honestly think that AMD should just focus more on their GPGPU company segment where they are doing quite well.

I'm one of the few happy with it. Still waiting on AMD to step on mobo manufacturers, there is absolutely no competition/selection in the m-itx FM2 market..

You guys have to realize that with HSA, the GPU is now as much of a usable processor as the CPU, which really justifies the higher than usual price.

HSA optimization was designed to be as easy and fast to code/compile as regular C++. Also, those HSA foundation partnerships have to go somewhere. Widespread adoption is likely to come very quickly.

As per AMD's own documents, HSA is only optimized well through OpenCL 2.0 for the time being. We may see quick adoption but getting software out the door will be the bottleneck.

And no, features that are not yet implemented nor benchmarkable nor rolled into usable software do not justify an inflated price.

AIDA64 is HSA ready already, actually. You can benchmark the benefits.
