The kaveri subpar gaming experience is better than anything intel has.

Feel free to link a retailer that is currently offering BF4 with just the APU...Even when they do start offering the game with the APU, how does it add $50 to the price? I don't recall Richland being gouged like this at release considering it was bundled with SimCity... Or would you rather that I ignore this fact...

So, in practice AMD is rewriting the definition of "core" when it applies to a computer's "central processing unit". Too many people are bashing AMD because they are AMD, but are being blinded by their personal bias to really see the potential of this product. AMD has gone down this path because of what Intel has done in the software market by flooding it with Intel compilers that have bias against any other non-Intel CPU, hence Mantle and huma. Then add in the fact that AMD has combined the "traditional" CPU and GPU cores to "process" information specifically suited to specific types of tasks, the end result is a more efficiency. AMD is solving the same problem with a different solution, and I can see that they are actually on the front of innovation rather than Intel.

I have no issue in accepting what AMD have done/ are trying to do. I think they have been very ambitious, but at the moment i think their APU's are falling just short of the enthusiast market, even for budget builds. As far as laptops go, i think their way is clearly the way to go @ 1600x900 , 1366x768 resolutions etc. Maybe when mantle is released it will make me re-think my position, but to make the APU worth while and be able to leave out a dedicated GPU i would expect 60fps in the latest games with the lowest settings @ 1080p, or 30-45 fps with the higher settings @ 1080p, but from my understanding, @ 1080p you need to turn settings way down to just get 30fps in the latest games? That doesn't really cut it for me, even for light gaming in the living room, personally i would still need a dedicated gpu taking away any advantage these APU's have.

Did anyone end up ordering Kaveri? I'd really love to put together a BF4 Multi Comparison.

But it's still a quad-core dual-core, therefore becomes a limiting factor in some new games.

Battlefield 4 stresses all 4 threads of the I3's so in newer games it should be a valid comparison to kaveri. You unfortunately cant just over clock it rolleyes.gif "Thanks Intel"

God forbid someone spend less than 2k on a PC that serves as a dual purpose machine! There are literally millions of people out there who need a computer to do certain functions but also want to play games, and don't feel that it is worth all of the extra money to buy a low-mid range pc AND a ps4/Xbone. I know a bunch of people who are looking at this as a viable solution for both. Someone needs a PC for work and their kids want to play games, this solves both without the massive sticker pricing.

OCN honestly has lost it's perspective. This site is supposed to be about getting the most out of what you have, not OMG IT'S NOT 12 CORES AND 8JIGGAHERTZ. I can't wait to see the OC on Kaveri, as it might just surprise a lot of people, Also by your own logic, why would you OC the 4600 when you can just buy a 780Ti?

Who's talking about spending 2K?

7850K + UP4 = 299.98
4670K + Z87 Extreme3 = 333.98

We're talking about a 34 dollar difference here
