Anyone remember faildozer?

The only thing that will happen is the new chips might come close to performance against intel sandy/ivy 6 core chips which will have been out for months, at which point intel will just release a new cpu that beats these new amd 12 cores ones.

once those haswell-e chips with 8 cores/16 threads come out, amd will have to announce their next cpu "improvement" now featuring.....more cores

Marketing... I wish everyone would take AMD's Marketing at face value and just accept that they will market for the masses. People dont need to whine and cry every time AMD tries to sell something.

Just straight up if you dont like it dont buy it or support it but please dont whine about it.

This is it for 2014.. Kaveri and nothing else?

Thank god for Intel, 14nm can't come soon enough..

14nm broadwell shouldnt be much really, power consumption dropped a bit, 5/10% ipc boost, garbage paste used on the chip so you have to delid it, etc etc.

What people should be excited for is haswell-e 8 cores for $550 and ddr4...which will destroy your wallet and burn your farmlands.

That's silly AMD is twice the die and still a smaller piece of silicone. Also uses a relative power consumption similar to Intel. Disregarding IPC and Benchmarks designed for Intel's Arch, Intel is stagnating pretty badly. Now Intel doesn't have the roam in x86 like it did so it's focusing on ARM chips. AMD has the opportunity to transform x86 into a platform more capable. Let's just hope HSA is successful.

Some may argue that Intel has stagnated due to a lack of upwards pressure from AMD. Remember, Intel's last truly great innovation, the Core microarchitecture, was brought about by an insanely competitive AMD. smile.gif

Don't you think its time Intel should start selling their CPUs with their dies exposed just like seen on modern GPUs and mobile CPUs with a spacer instead of IHS to prevent pressure from damaging the die like seen on the Xbox One APU?

thats how i see it.

Why shouldnt intel release something groundbreaking when the competition is tripping over their feet? Waiting for amd to light a fire under intels backside again, then they'll release their groundbreaking product. Until that happens, 5% increase here, 10% there, 5% there etc etc.

I would like it, but for mainstream users i bet they wouldnt know where to begin if they saw a chip without the IHS on it lol. I bet people would still find a way to break the chip. People deliding usually have some knowledge of cpus.

I wanted to read about how AMD is going to use the GPU cores along with the CPU cores and have a civil discussion about it, but it never fails that here on OCN the same crowd shows up and ruins any chance at having that discussion.
