[TPU] Review: EVGA GTX 780 Ti Classified 3 GB - Page 6

seems like a good thread to post in since there's some discussion about resolutions:

- With a single 780 Ti Classy, which environment will produce consistently higher framerates: ultra 1080p + AA, or ultra 1440p no AA
- At 1440p, is AA still desirable/needed?

I can't stand jaggies. At 1080p, I was running 8x AA if frames allowed.

At 1440p, I find 2x AA gives the same IQ.

I run highest settings at 1440p in many games like Metro LL, Far Cry 3, Hitman etc and barely hit 2 gigs of memory use.

if you were to disable one of your 780 Classies, what frames would you be pulling with 1440p + 2AA? This should give me a solid idea of what to expect with my own single 780 Ti Classy.

well I play with a single 780 @ 1180mhz core.

Pretty much can max out every game at 1440p with no AA. Some games allow various levels of AA. Some up to 4xMSAA, others maybe just 2xSMAA.

1440p looks great without any AA.

a 780 Ti would perform even better, even allowing higher levels of AA with a consistent 60fps.

ah yeah, nice. thanks for that.

Mmm I don't think ill be pushing much higher than a 780 Classy somehow; my Ti Classy is a bit of a turd. tongue.gif

It's all about irrational "I want to run everything maxed" statements, or "I need full 4K textures on 1080p gaming". (and ofc AA the latter).

take not that the higher screen res goes the higher the pixel density is and running AA will sometimes just be a resource hog with no benefits.

"It’s a technique used to smooth otherwise jagged lines or textures by blending the color of an edge with the color of pixels around it. The result should be a more pleasing and realistic appearance, depending on the intensity of the effect"

"4xFSAA would render an image four times as large. This allows more precise color data to be deduced from each sample, and results in smoother lines and edges than usual"so its understandable the higher res you go lower you have to drop your AA esspectially cause moset consumers are only gaming at 1080p for now,and hopefully, soon we will see more and more gamers moving up to UHD,but one thing does bother me...i question 1440p and 1600p if thats a viable upgrade option if full 4k is aound the corner and new gpu chips cause I think the GK110 core has reached its limit of potential.

bellow is the kingpin once again pictured.thumb.gif
