Cheap triple monitor setup advice needed!

Thread Starter
I put together a build for a friend who needs 3 monitors, not for gaming, just spreadsheets and multitasking, so nothing special.
I put an Intel i3 and GeForce 620 inside but discovered the 620 only supports two monitors at the same time. I'm looking for the cheapest way to get 3 monitors working, whether I can get the on-board graphics to work somehow or just replace the video card. If I can find a video card under $100 that can do triple monitors without any special adapters (or if it's $100 with the adapters) that would be great. The monitors he's using don't have Displayport, but do have HDMI, DVI and VGA.

Thanks in advance for any help! Cheers thumb.gif

Sorry, but I think your kind of screwed on that behalf. The GTX 620 is a weak card that never should have been purchased in the first place. I'm fairly certain you could take your $100, sell the GTX 620 for like $30 and then scrounge up enough money to get an HD 7790. Honestly, if you knew you were going to run a triple monitor setup, you probably should have done a little more research wink.gif

So is it not possible to run the integrated graphics and the dedicated at the same time?
And what would be the cheapest card that supports three monitors by it's own?

A GPU thats actually worth buying that will support it. An HD 7770 will do it, but your absolute cheapest option is the HD 6750. Honestly though, get the hd 7770. You will enjoy it more.
Also don't forget that you need at least one monitor to run off of display port. So make sure you have the appropriate adaptor and cables.

What kind of motherboard do you have? You can enable the on display output through the Bios and have it working concurrently with your graphic card; if not buy an HDMI spliter relatively cheap.

This ^ I use a 7770 for triple monitors and it does just fine... Oh one thing to note you WILL NEED an ACTIVE mini DVI to dvi or hdmi adapter to hook up monitor number three on the XFX models (it may apply to others as well so be sure to have a look at what ports it has)

If your current mobo has video out puts than I see no reason why you cant run to screen off the card an one off the mobo. On my system I run three screens on my gpu's(for gaming) and two off my mobo(as accessory).
