10 Monitor setup What Graphic card Should I get?

Thread Starter
Break down:
10 monitor setup
6x DP/DVI/HDMI
4x DVI/HDMI

Budget is about 900 to 1500

AMD cards:
I need a pair of graphic cards that supports 5 displays or more. I would prefer direct inputs over MST hubs
or 3 4 output video cards.

2 r9 280x Asus Matrix Platinum (Ideal but I cant get this anywhere...)
2 r9 290x MSIlightning with 1 MST hub

Nvidia cards:
Please keep in mind I would Need 3 GPUs that support 4x or more outputs for 10 monitors (Only 650ti+ for Nvidia supports 4 displays at once.)

3 780 Asus Poseidon Platinum (I do have a Koolance Water Cooler)
3 770 Asus Poseidon Platinum
3 Mars 760

Or be cheap and buy crappy r9 270/ some cheaper nvidia cards.

In my intial build the two Asus AMD 280x Matrix Platinum Video card order was canceled and is not only up charged to 460, but is now also unavailable. price change of 354 to 460 per card Due to bitcoins.
I would have spent 718USD initially for this but now the total comes out to 920+USD I might as well buy 3 nvidia cards

I was initially hoping to spend at most 900 on graphic cards. Damn you bitcoin.. I am in no rush and may consider waiting until prices drop. I'm using an old nvidia card for now .
(ignore the ghetto chair. I've yet to get a 2nd desk for support)

Is that for gaming?which is the resolutin by card(s)?

The graphic card is the last thing I need Which was canceled I would've initially spent 720.. on 2 r9 matrix cards but they were canceled So I cant use them all at once yet. Yes this is for gaming. The monitors on the ends go up to 1920 by 1080 The 3 on the bottom center are also 1920 by

The 3 on the top center are 1920 by 1200.
The 3 on the bottom center are also 1920 by 1080

Center resolution = 5760 by 2280

The panels on the side are just extra to browse the internet and such. But if I allow for the extra gap on the top and set it at 1920 by 1080 all around resolution is 9600x 2160.

For gaming on all that minimum you need a gtx titan/r9 290(x) per each 3 ssreen at least because the vram usage for 5670x1080 is 3.1gb on bf4 maxed so the 780 and 780ti are out(unless that nvidia launches a 6gb version of the 780ti).yerterday newegg had stock r9 290x for 600usd each

I would need 3.1 per 5760 x 1080? So its about 1.3 GB per 1920 by 1080. In total 13Gb of VRam.. Does this amount of Vram apply to AMD cards aswell?

Bf4 on 1920x1080p would be 1.6gb or more

The vram on crossfire/sli doesnt accumulate.maybe 3 screens=or>2.5gb(deppending on the game and quality of graphics and quantity of filters).then for futureproof the r9 290/290x/gtx titan are the minimum if you plan on using max graphics on 5670x1080 or more otherwise a 780gtx 3gb would be enough

Man... That is awesome! I do think you've underestimated the gpu side of things though.

Anyway I'm off to sulk in front of my single 1080p wink.gif

Hmm.. well apparently on a 4k res monitor about~ 4096 x 2160 its about 4 gbs each So I think I'd need around 12Gb of vram.

I could Use (2 with mst hub / or 3) R9 280x 6Gb cheaper solution. @_@; or I could get a pair of r9 290xs and an mst hub until i feel like a 3rd r9 290x/or titans is worth it I really don't want to spend more than 1500 on graphic cards lol The Custom r9 290x's should be rolling in soon Msi has already announced theirs

I think you will find the VRAM doesn't stack with SLI/Crossfire. So if your cards have 3GB of RAM doesnt matter if you have 2 cards or even 4 you only have 3GB useable. The best you can do is go for a Titan or 780ti 6GB. redface.gif
