Can you see if its possible to x-fire anything higher then a r7 250? Say a 260x?

Worth a ask.

Subbed. Also, what board and ram are you using with the 7850K?

I didn't even set the voltage right honestly, I just picked 4.6 out of a hat when watercooled. I'm certainly going to push it as well I just got a lot later start today than intended and wanted it installed and doing something before work tomorrow. So no worries I'll test all of it, though I likely won't get the heavier stuff done till Friday into Saturday.

Remember I'm doing this for you guys. For better or worse I'm donating the guts of my sig rig to my friend so her broke carcass has a computer to finish school with. As such I was sick of AM3+ and used it as an excuse to jump ship and try out the new socket.
So my insanity is your gain as by the end of this I will be running this thing with highend hardware that has no business being within 10ft of an APU.

So ask away I have no problem trying anything that won't cause it to susplode

note to use the advance with the single thread so we can see MP ratio scaling of cores now. yet to be shown anywhere.

I'm gonna update my Sig rig soon one I'm done with my charity build for her, and my own revamp.

But for reference I am using an ASrock A88X Extreme 6 board, and I'm swapping between Samsung Miracle ram and Gskill 2400Mhz. The reason why being my UD3 would only ever run the miracle memory no matter what I set the Gskill to, but this ASrock board hates the miracle ram so I'm trying to trouble shoot it out.

Both sets have given me Blue screens though (at stock and over clock) so its one of the reasons I went no further tonight. I have to look into it a bit more over the weekend and worse case when I finish the rebuild on weekend or next week I'll get some epically reliable ram to go with it.

Interesting question but I don't have one lying around.

I know this is total heresay, but when I was pestering AMD rep James prior on twitter last week he did kind of between the lines confirm that some semblence of getting a high end discreet GPU working in concert withwith the onboard GCN cores was a possibility.

Now when I posed the question I was directly referencing an r9 290. That being said rumors are everywhere recently (I think Seronx has said as well) that such a thing is going to happen down the road.

So cross your fingers.

I only ask because the VRM threads had me afraid to upgrade to an 8350 on the GA-970A-D3, and i thought i had even heard that the UD3's were having a similarly tough time with overclocked 8 cores. I'm really hoping you say say no, that you confirmed that your FX proc was doing great and that the gains you're seeing with Kaveri are gains over an overclocked 8350 at the top of its game! thumb.gif

Hmm interesting aside. All I can offer is friends in game running 8350's and 6300's on 990fx boards were getting the same low teens frame drops I was. I can honestly say I personally never had a problem with the UD-3(I've even validated at 5.3Ghz with it) and figured the 8+2 phases were good enough for OCing in general. That being said I know it's villianized like hell around here.

Honestly though, besides what I say above, all I can say is, maybe.

If you haven't already jumped up to Catalyst 13.30, it might be sweet to replicate some of the early testing as before/after, to shed some light on the reliability of those early benchmarks.

Also really really curious about the possibility that the gains you mentioned in your first post might have been due to that Mobo throttling the FX chip, sorry to harp on it.

Answered, thank you.

If money is an issue and your going discreet powerful GPU, I can see getting an A8 at that point, but until AMD actually has chips that justify pricing seperationseperation (by the hundreds) I look at it as a waste not to get the flagship either way.

Okay, good advice. Time to wait for a microcenter sale...
