Sorry my results are the 7850K with a 250X.

Anyways what motherboard are you using? I have the Giga mITx and the same thing I can only run Ram at 2133 also the iGPU is locked at max oc of 920.

Kaveri needs bios revisions very badly. I'm currently on a beta bios and that's the only bios rev for my board. Other boards have a few more revisions.

http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/2550778 @ 4.4ghz + 1080mhz clock on the GPU (stock = 915) my GPU and CPU doesn't seemed to want to go higher without some proper fine tuning

pretty lame.and far from what the OP was getting considering similar hardware and i feel that there is a HUGE bottleneck on the CPU

Your physics score seems low... mine scores 5200+ on a 4.5ghz OC. With my 260x ' s I'm scoring between 6004 and 6048 on firestrike. I'd be inclined to think you aren't fully stable on your OC, and that's why things are low...There shouldn't be an issue feeding your 670

Great thread my man, nice work.

Would you mind running Passmark and recording your overall for "CPU" --> "All" , and also your "Single Threaded" scores?

Would be much appreciated. thumb.gif

Alright, ran the Passmark benches and here are the scores you were looking for:

All = 6611

Single Thread = 1777

the other scores looked like this

Integer = 12676
Floating Point = 4857
Primes = 14.6
SSE = 174.8
Compression = 9005
Encryption = 1082
Physics = 289.0
Sorting = 4929

Scores overall looked decent... the one area where there was no comparison, for what its worth, was the Extended Instructions (SSE) where the Kaveri scored 174.8 million matrices per second...the i7-3770k at stock gets 50.4 million matrices per second. Really not sure what that's good for, lol, but was something I thought was interesting as it was the only set in the Passmark Bench that showed information outside of the norm. Anyways, that's what I found smile.gif

So ive got my replacement 7850k up and running.

so far no throttling, as i'm pretty much ignoring the iGPU for the time being..(bloody rubbish drivers IMHO)

something i've noticed.. might only apply to the extreme6+

but target tdp set to auto in bios will 9 time out of 10 set you too 45w tdp., force manual setting of 65w and clocks seem more stable.

apparently 65w is what the cpu part under full load to hold stock clocks.. and surprise surprise. turbo doesn't work for me i think i just generally use more cores then 2 so i'm never seeing the turbo engage.

IMHO this chip should have a 110w - 120w TDP as the iGPU with 2gb ram assigned to it wants to eat up about 45w @ stock clocks during 3DM basic.

I would really like to see a disable target tdp option.

I'm starting to feel a little let down.. why does the chip want to draw 110w under full load with 95w tdp (3.7 ghz no turbo + 720mhz 2ghz @ 2400mhz) these chips have potential yet seem to be gimped by amd's publish specification.

Thanks for running the bench man! thumb.gif I assume that was with your i3? What speed did you have it at? Yeah I'm not really sure what any of the tests mean or are optimized for besides bragging.
For comparison, my FX-8320 at 4.5ghz ran a 10,318 total, and 1,701 single threaded. Haha, good to know my processor isn't too far behind an i3 in single threaded, when I have it at 4.5 haha. tongue.gif

Those tests were run on my A10 - 7850k clocked at 4.5ghz smile.gif I actually haven't had an i3 for some time..lol.. I'm thinking it may be time to update my sig rig... (even my 7850k is getting moved to a new build I'm doing for my living room).. Anyways, it's a fun little chip to mess around with and seems to perform much better than the synthetic benchmarks would seem to suggest. It will be interesting to see how the excavator APU performs as AMD refines things on this process

We were first alerted to a potential issue by reader Daniel, who showed us evidence of an odd behavior when Kaveri was running in APU-only mode (meaning without a discrete graphics card). When an APU’s integrated GPU is put under load, the maximum CPU clock speed can drop sharply, from 3.7GHz to 3.0GHz. This occurs regardless of thermal load, as shown in the screenshot below, where I’m running Cinebench and Litecoin mining at the same time.
Quote:
Right now, there are two ways to deal with the issue. First, you can download and install AMD Overdrive, and disable Turbo Core in software. Note that you’ll have to restart your system in order to bring Turbo Core back online.

The other method is to disable AMD’s Master APM and CPB Mode settings from within your motherboard’s UEFI / BIOS. This will run the CPU at a constant clock speed. We tested both methods and found them equally effective in terms of resolving the problem. Note that simply setting a manual CPU multiplier will not fix the problem — our A10-7850K at 4.2GHz would still pull down to 3GHz when the GPU was loaded.
